robertburns
Any ideas of things you would actually buy in resin? Thanks - Rob
martinfan5
Do you mean new resin items?, as it would be copyright violation for anyone to cast OOP kit in resin
Snake45
AMT '65 Chevelle stock bodies. Several places do the '64, and at least one does the AWB funny, but I'd like a stock body to convert the Revell Z16 to a more standard Malibu SS 327. dimaxion
Let me see , I buy anything AMC , Studebaker , Pierce Arrow , Packard , Hudson , Nash (all independents) MoPar , FoMoCO , I don't have . Plus everything else any manufacturer produced .Veteran , Pioneer , Antique , Classic seem to be dead Dodo's . I would buy a Mercer Raceabout from Brass Era prior to Black Rubber Tires in 1/25 scale to compliment the Stutz Bearcat . One before 1914 BTW . I know this won't happen . I am able to get more specific with some I would buy other than the many I've listed here since 200 (?) , if need be .. Thanx ..

Greg Myers
That seems to be the question, doesn't it? I often wonder how resin casters get away with it. What % has to change ? and if they're still using an original kit as a base, how does that work? One more question, what if a company is out of business, say, The Aurora Racing Scenes Kits ? "all the original Revell parts pack motorcycles", I'd pay $25 for all four in a box. Edited May 9, 2015 by Greg Myers

Old ones like Hupmobile or something might be available. Design patents are styles and last for 14 years. 1957 Chevy Bel Air is free game. 2014 Impala is protected. Copyrights last for 50 years after the death of the artist or end of the company. Aurora is okay to copy if it's been more than 50 years, which in some cases there are. Less than 50 but someone has to be around to care enough to hire a lawyer which is slim in some cases. It doesn't matter the % changed. If it is based on something that was copyrighted, then it is technically illegal. The real issue is whether they will go after you or not and if they can prove it. The kit companies generally don't but they can if they want to. Most modelers turn a blind eye to it as well.
