Tommy Kortman
HELP???!!! A couple of weeks ago while I was at the Mid-Atlantic NNL (Md) I was able to score a Tamiya 1/12 scale Lola T70 MkIII. I am wondering if anybody knows of any aftermarket detail items being available? I know that F1 specialties has a couple of conversion decal sets, but I was really thinking about Photo-etch, or possibly a trans kit to make it into a MkIIIB. Any help is appreciated. THANKS!! Zoom Zoom
I've never heard of any so far, but I've heard that this kit is going to be reissued with Cartograf decals soon, so perhaps there will be detail sets forthcoming.
george 53
Tommy, Isn't that just the most BEAUTIFUL car you've ever seen? It sure is for me! i like it better than ANY ferrari I've EVER seen! I was able to score one for 100 bucks a coupla years back, and i still am intimidated by ALL the parts in it! Yeeesh, might as well try to build a REAL one! Good luck on it my Bro, I KNOW you'll do it proud!!!!
Modellpularn
I built the original kit for my local hobby shop, around '70-'71, or was it later....umh? Well I wasn't very old at the time; 15-16. I just sprayed some clear over the dark plue plastic, and it turned out good. They liked it, so I got to build some more Tamiya models. I bought the reissue that came out in '97-'98, and had it until I sold it to a friend who had pestered me for a long time into selling it to him. Oh well.... But he made a mess of it, so I really regretted selling it. I'll buy another if it comes back. It holds a special memory from that old hobby shop. And also, like george53 said, it's such a beautiful car!
LDO
NOT aftermarket, but possibly interesting; a guy on a Yahoo! Group was working on scratchbuilding an Aston Martin engine to make his model more accurate. Check in the big scale forum on this site for a current buildup. Tommy Kortman
Gentlemen, Thank you very much for the responses. And yes George, it is a beautiful car. I am finding it mildly difficult to come up with decent reference photos. Perhaps I will p/up the DVD from Strada. Has anyone seen this yet? I have seen the one on the Porsche 917, and it is very good. You know...when you really study this car you can see a lot of the 917 in it. Makes you wonder whose shoulder Stuttgart was looking over. Hi There Tommy The Motorsport DVD for the Lola T70 Coupe has loads of Cockpit images and a good share of Engine bay shots (Chevy Small Block with mechanical Fuel Injection), but as in the 917K DVD little in the way of suspension detail. HotRodaSaurus
I built the late 90s re-issue and noticed the gear change rod was missing from the parts count. If you study an original 1969 instruction sheet it is there, the later sheet, check out the same page and you will see this part is ommited. I am afraid that I dont have the sheets to hand at present so cant scan it. John
Ariel
You can start by getting 1/12 scale stuff from R&B Motion and Scalehardware
Bob DeWoody
I'm new to this board and got here because I was googling to find decals for the Tamiya 1/12th scale Lola T70 Coupe. I built the model while I was in college and as another poster commented I just oversprayed the blue plastic with a clear gloss and applied the very sparse kit decals. I think I sold the model. Later in the mid 1970 I got hold of another of these fine kits from a friend who made me promise one thing. If he sold it to me I was to build it myself and not resale the kit. I have had it all these many years sitting unbuilt in the box. It is the original issue with the electric motor to be placed inside the Chevy V-8. It also has working headlights and tail lights. Recently I have gotten back into slot car racing and acquired the FLY 1/32 Lola unpainted kit which I am in the process of decalling as the 1969 Daytona 24 Hr winner Sunoco #6. It has resparked my interest in building my big one if I can find suitable decals.
kitbash1
Tamiya is releasing a T70 with a PE sheet. With any luck Tamiya will sell the PE on it's own.

gary
Was it not expensive enough? MSRP $204. But it's still on my wish list. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=12043
