7000in5th
Hi all, At one time I was very involved in model trucks, particularly Internationals. Since my retirement from International in 2001, I have not kept up with truck models very closely. Because of my previous involvement, I got the below email from a fellow modeler who needs some help getting back into truck modeling. Can anyone answer his questions? Many thanks, David Palmeter "I built truck models fifteen years ago but then we bought an old house and had to refurbish it. A year ago I rummaged through our attic and found several unbuilt truck model kits and the fire was ignited again. I also looked for more information about trucks in the internet, here are the questions I want to ask. Are Pinecrest Scale Models, Doug Crompton, Rick Manz and Mark D. Savage still in business? Do they still sell resin kits? Do you possibly have email addresses? Do you know other producers of resin kits in 1/25 or 1/24 scale? This will do for the time being. I'll be great if you could answer these questions and I thank you already now for taking the time for it. Kind regards, Hans-Jürgen Kück"
Aaronw
Pinecrest is out of buisness as far as I know. You can occasionally find a Pinecrest cab on ebay but they generally go for a good chunk of money. I am not at all familiar with the other casters so assume they are not around either. I can recommend the following truck sites for resin cabs and parts. http://www.aitruckmodels.com/ http://www.stsmodeltrucks.com/ http://www.freewebs.com/rmrresin/ http://www.sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com/ http://www.modelsbydave.com/ http://www.kitformservices.com/
george 53
Dave, NONE of those resin casters are still in buisness.Sorry. Your best bet is to try the casters that Aaron mentioned. Ive delt with STS models,RMR Resins(he makes a GREAT excavator kit), and Kitform, and can vouche for their products, ALL very clean bubble free resin products. Hope this helps, Good Luck! 7000in5th
Aaron, George, Thanks for the quick replies. David Palmeter Jürgen tuned in and sent this reply, also: Hello David, Thanks very much for putting my questions on the resin forum of MCM. That was a great idea. I've checked the forum and there were already answers. And they were helpful as there were mentioned some websites which I didn't know about. Thanks a lot again. Kind regards, Jürgen
cargostar
Wow! I subscribed to Navistar Model News. Still have them somewhere. I always liked Pinecrests stuff. Some of the trucks I'm casting are based on older resin kits.
mackinac359
Dave A long-time follow-up to your post - Doug Compton who bought James Etter's work sold to Dave Natale a year or so ago and the items are available from Dave at www.aitruckmodels.com. Another long-ago caster is back now, Illini Replica Conversions is offering some of his old line up. His items can be found on a link from www.aitruckmodels.com. Now, regarding your days at IH, with AMT reissuing the Transtar 4300-Eagle, truck modelers would LOVE to hear detail tidbits and information about the 4300. chuckyr
I found a Pinecrest International 8200 resin kit in my stash. Forgot I had it. Above average casting, but the resin is typical of the 1980s tech. Some what brittle.

Tim Hi Tim, I appreciate your confidence in my memory and filing system. I'll look around and see what I have. I could open up the case in which I have my 4300 conversion displayed and take some detail pictures if that would be of interest:
