RodneyBad Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 (edited) I've been hacking away at a few Sidekick models and thought I'd put 3 of the builds right here in one thread. First one. I've lowered this one. The great part about Suzuki Sidekicks for Off-Roading are their Full Frames but they hang below the bodys. Not great in dropping it in the weeds. I cut the chassis apart and lowered the frame into the interior tub (one piece chassis pan tho) Next I made it into a half Cab and tacked on a chin spoiler for now. right now the wheels are the stock ones with the rear ones widened. Should I make this body the lifted one? Edited October 19, 2009 by Zukiholic
RodneyBad Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 Second one. I hacked off the top made a deck cover and using a Hoppin Hydro(?) boot cover. Decided to use the stock wheels and stock suspension height. Use this body for the lowered one or lifted?
RodneyBad Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 Third one but not the last one. I Just lifted it 6 scale inches and used some tires form a toy I picked up from a Truck stop. There ya have it. Just 3 of the ways you could do to a Zuk. A fourth one may pop up some where along the build.
dwc43 Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 (edited) The lifted one is the best one out of the bunch. Looks more real to life. Edited October 18, 2009 by dwc43
Lownslow Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 love the lowered one very 1990s, dont know about the stock one it could use better set of wheels than the "rollovers" but its right for the X90 package. the lifted one is perfect
B_rad88 Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 hey Zuki, those are sweet looking!!!! i really like the lowered one, and i like the vert. but if i had the vert, i would lower it too, but thats just me, lol! and can i suggest something? on the lowered on, i think it would look better with bigger rims, lol!!! anywho, those are cool! what kit is those? they kinda look like fujimi kits? am i right? i can wait to see more. keep up the good work!
cruz Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Cool projects!! Where do you get these sidekicks? I would love to have one!!!
RodneyBad Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 Thanks dwc43 I am more partial to the lifted one but I couldn't decide how I wanted to build one soo why not do it 3 of the ways? Thanks Lownslow It does remind me of the Ole X-90s but looks more like a Geo Metro Convertible. LOL.. I may put a hatchback top on it off of a Levin (just thought about that) Thanks KUZTOMMODELS88 I was thinking about doing each one at a different suspension height just for a comparison. I may even use the same wheels but wider on the lifted one and off-set on the lowered one. I may swap wheels on the lowered one, ya just never know. Thanks marcos cruz I've picked them up from HLJ and HWJapan through the yrs since I am a Zukiholic and have a lifted Sidekick myself. A 4dr may be my next project one.
unky Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 There are a few of Suzukis lowered here in Puerto Rico in the street or the strip. They drop Toyota four cylinder motors or Mazda rotary engines and change the front diferential with a straight axle. Keep the good work!

James Flowers Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 I like all three. I like the lifted one the best. If the real one with the flames on it is yours that is really nice looking ride.
RodneyBad Posted October 19, 2009 Author Posted October 19, 2009 Actually both 1:1 Sidekicks are mine. Well, the 4dr was mine till I sold it and bought my Lil Red Suzuki Aerio SX. I did have both kicks at the same time tho. I've heard of people using Rotary Engines in them, Makes them Perty quick too. Some people do the Toyota straight axles on them and that would be my next upgrade on mine. I knew ya had to have one of these floating around MrMike. The Samurai wheels look good on it and nice hub details. but the Sammie has smaller tires. I wish they did the SideKick model as good as they did the Samurai Looks cool in green tho. I guess ya could widen the fenders for wider meats. I do have some fender flares laying around but I tubed out the lowered one already. Still not sure what I'm gonna do with the convertible on tho. Looks too Geo Metro-ish. But it's different.
Modellpularn Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 That first one looks just like the Vitara, as they are called over here. But I guess you knew that. Aren't they around in the US?

Yes they are but the Vitara name are on the newer ones. 99 and up I think. We also have the Grand Vitara And they got Huge too.
RodneyBad Posted October 21, 2009 Author Posted October 21, 2009 Rodney, all of them are cool! each has it's own unique look and direction you can go. i wonder what the convertible would look like with some 19's or 20's? Dave I'm still thinking about that but I got a Lil theme going on. I'm sure If the convertible will be a 2 seater with trunk or a 4 seater.
VW Dave Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Great project(s), Rodney! I like the half-cab one as the lowered one, and the stock-bodied one jacked up. This reminds me of the Samurais I built in the late 80's......couldn't decide how to build one, so I did three: one lowered, one sky-high, and one tubbed.

They do look good. Really good. I did do one Sammie tho.
FujimiLover Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I think that lowrider one needs a couple of speakers in the back!
Joe Handley Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I think that lowrider one needs a couple of speakers in the back! Yup, and some neon paint too!
David@MinidreamsInc. Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 I LIKE THE LOOKS OF THAT TRUCK VERSION 1 !
rollinoldskoo Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 i love ths topic appeals to the lowrider and 4x4 nut in me
RodneyBad Posted October 24, 2009 Author Posted October 24, 2009 I'm not too sure about the Neon paint job and Speaker box but maybe on the Convertible to fill the void of the rear seat? I'm still paining over what and how to do the convertible. I can still swap chassis till I'm finished and even after I finished. LOL... I'll even throw in a long term project one. It started out to be built like mine (the Flamed Black one) but then I built the Calmini Prototype SAS kit for it that they canceled. It was gonna be my next step to install on my 1:1. Of course I had to go from a Hardtop model to a softtop with no top and hack off the stock bumpers. BTW: That is a Suzuki front axle that has been widened an extra 3 inches on both ends. Everything that is on it is straight from the Calmini Catalog. So now I have 4 SideKick models going and plans for a pick up and a 4dr version too.
B-dub Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I'm only going to say this once... build a copy of yours! then send it to me.. the 1:1
