  1. Thanks for clearing that up, I did the number 3 car(whew!). I wonder why it was backwards anyway.
  2. I am not sure about this car but most Penzoil cars(Penske's Indy Cars) actually have some pearl in the yellow.
  3. Great job Ismael but why did you have to notice that(LOL) mine is finished and I never even noticed that.
  4. One thing I've used is WD40, it's actually a light oil. It works on all sticky type adhesive residue such as labels and tape leave, and shouldn't hurt most types of paint.
  5. You really do have to vent outside. Get a laundry vent kit and mount it on a board that fits in a window and just put it in the window while painting.
  6. Thanks for the compliments and to answer Bob I couldn't figure out how do the sideglass(that cutout towards the back) and that's why I did the ALMS version instead of the Lemans version.
  7. Good job, I am glad to see you molded in the Naca Ducts, every build I have seen so far doesn't. One area I wish I would of fixed on mine is the exhaust sheild should be rectangular and not tear-dropped shaped. You are exactly right , built out of box it's the presentation version. I had to make the Klein Tools decals that's on all race pictures I found at Corvetteracing.com. I had to add plastic to the doors and hood to fix the gaps and get a better fit. And I am sure you noticed the front wheel alignment problems and ride height needed adjusted. Tow hooks are also missing and most races a wiper was attached to the car.
  8. I found that out when masking some disk brakes , I believe Dullcote,Gloscote and the Metalizer sealer are Shellacs that just lay on top of any paint and do not bite into or dissolve the previous coats even on second coats of itself.
  9. The best styrene plastic glue around is Ambroid Proweld liquid glue. I also recommend a needle point applicator made by Flexifile company for more precise application on small areas and parts.
  10. Call Novus at 1-800-668-8760 and ask for a distributor in your area, it's only about $5.00 an 8 oz. bottle(allot cheaper than hobby shops)
  11. Built from Tamiya's snap together 1/20th scale kit. Paint is Krylon White and Black. Lower front monocoque was molded in and suspension arms re-attached. All snap together tabs were removed and holes filled in. A word of warning to anybody building these kits, do what ever you need to make the rear view mirrors removable to remove the body work when displaying engine and chassis. It's about impossible with them in place. I made them fit tight in their sqare mounting holes and used a product from Microscale called Micro Liquitape that's used to temporarily hold parts together so I can remove and re-attach as necessary.
  12. Even After all the mods I did this still needs a few modifications like the exhaust shield should be rectangular. This kit built out of the box is the presentation version of the car. For any body building this kit I recommend going to corvetteracing.com, there is pics from all 2005 and 2006 races and the presentation car. It still looks good overall. I made the Klein Tools decals and rear side marker lights were drawn in Autocad.
  13. This kit needs allot of work to be more realistic, Here is a list of mods I made Cut body panel from door and molded to body Cut loose and molde in Naca ducts Opened front intakes to replaced with screen Cut slots for tow hooks Fixed ride heght and wheel alignment problems. Replaced debri net with one made from electrical tape Photo etch nuts for air plenum Sanded off molded seat belts and replaced with tape and photo etch parts. Just to name a few.
  14. I just would like to say hi to all and show this model I finished recently. It's Tamiya's Original Teile Mercedes DTM.
