  1. Toby, you live in an area with a large population of model car builders. I am posting the address for the DAAM site. The Down River club is also active in your area but I don't have a link. http://www.daamclub.com/ Good luck in finding some fellow modelers in your area.
  2. If it's like most other 2 part epoxy putty it will work. You will want to get it as close to your finished shape as possible because it is HARD when cured. I used similar putty to fill the channels for the chrome on a '54 Ford custom I'm doing and it worked well. I'll do the finish leveling with a 2 part polyester putty. If you get it and don't like it for modeling there's a world of other uses for it.
  3. Lookin' good! Rufus would be proud.
  4. I got 19! Does that mean I win? It was kind of cool pretending that 19 people wanted to contact me!
  5. I too am a basement dweller. Room number 1. Room number 2 I don't have a picture of the project pile or the plastic tubs with rebuilders in them. Maybe I'll take some later and post them.
  6. I wasn't done , what I was going to say was , I bought some things from them at a show a few years ago and they are nice products. However, if you pay and never get them it doesn't matter how nice the parts are.
  7. You know the real sad thing here is that the products they produce are well done and many are only done by them.
  8. Thanks George! The reason I'm using the Green Hornet is that it's been painted and stripped once[ krylon color that I didn't like on the car] and I like the green metalic from Valspar. I have 4 more Hornets so this one will be my tester. I do want to finish it so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Your info on using a solid color under it was just what I was looking for. I had heard the paint is VERY thin so a close color underneath sounds like the way to go.Thanks again!
  9. Thanks Gregg! As it turned out I never got to it this weekend. I've decided to use a Monogram Green Hornet kit as my test mule. Sounds like patience and mist coats to begin is the way to go. I'm also using real car primer under it. Thanks for your response. I got the new mag in the mail yesterday and,as usual, enjoyed it very much!
  10. I hope to airbrush some Valspar Kustom Kolors paint this weekend.[ the hobby stuff Walmart sold] This will be my first time using it. Has anyone thinned it with anything besides their reducer? Has anyone tested compatability with other hobby paints? Anyone tried any hobby clear coats over it? Thanks for any info!
  11. Great looking '32. Sorry you had to thin your collection, could be worse, one of my son's just lost his house. Are those Stude wheel covers?
  12. I just got home from my local Michaels Craft Store. They had discontinued AMT and Revell kits for $4 each. I bought a bunch. Hope this info can help some of you score some cheap plastic!
  13. Very nice! Cale was my favorite driver, I'd like a set of those decals!
  14. Great '32 Andy. It has that "Bad Attitude" I love. The colors from your chopper will look killer on it. Keep us up to date!
  15. Man what a great build! I could look at those pictures all day!
  16. Lyle you got me laughing! Unfortunatly I'm so old I may have been there that day!
  17. I was 7, it was 1958. My aunt ,uncle and cousin Brian were staying with us for a few days. Brian was 2 years older and just as much of a car fanatic as I was. He had stared building model cars earlier that summer. My dad, uncle , Brian and I went to Arlens[ a dicount department store]. My uncle bought a '58 Pontiac convertible for Brian and a '58 Buick hardtop for me. I was hooked! Wish I still had that Buick. The oldest of my models I have is a '60 Pontiac convertible. It's rough, but with a Modelhaus windshield frame and chrome I hope to have it back on display![one more project! I need my head examined!]
  18. Everything sugessted will work on some paints , not on others. Another good stripper is Dawn Power Dissolver, found by the cleaning supplies at Wal Mart and some other big stores. Works on almost every paint, won't hurt the plastic and even smells good! As with the Castrol and oven cleaner, wear gloves. Good luck, it's great to be able to redo mistakes or strip old E Bay wins!
  19. I agree about the box art. It's like the old days, box art that makes you want to buy the kit. And the decal sheets are amazing!
  20. I got a '61 Ranchero and 2 '57 Fords on Tuesday at the Big Lots by me. They had the Ford GT's a while back. I've picked up lots of cheap kits there over the years. Got 15 '40 Ford Sedan Deliverys a few years ago for $3 each.[ I know I didn't need 15 of them.]
  21. Hi everyone! Hope to have some fun here. Thanks to Gregg and Jarius for a great mag and this site!
