Aston Martin´s flagship model DBS was released in 2007 but made it´s first public appearance in the 2006 James Bond movie Casino Royale. The car features a front V12 engine with 510 hp. The Tamiya kit is from 2010 and has not been re-released since then. Prices in eBay are ridiculous, I was fortunate to get one for a more reasonable price from a model show. This model has been presented here and other modelling sites quite a few times over the years, they were of great help. The kit was built in about one month period this May/June. Because I knew no cheap spare kits would be available in case I would mess up something, extra care was practiced during every step, expecially the paint job. The exterior color is metallic green from auto paint store´s hundreds of greens, so this is not exactly any Aston Martin factory color. Rims are Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf and the dashboard, front and rear diffusers and the side mirrors Black Metallic (in lack of real carbon fiber). This was the first time I actually painted the window trims instead of foiling them as chrome trims would not suite the car that well. That of course meant a masking marathon and airbrushing of Vallejo Model Air silver. Fortunately there was no bleed through. Needless to say, the quality of the kit was awesome. The only disappointment was the metal transfers for the engine cover and I unfortunately lost the other side´s Aston Martin logo transfer. The kit also had plenty of photo etch parts for the various air intakes and pedals.

Hi guys. With my R-33 nearly wrapped up, I'm going to be working on my next model, Tamiya's Aston Martin DBS. However, I'm not only in love with the DBS (and it's evil sister, the DBR9S) but specifically, the Carbon Black Edition. It sported a gorgeous black paint (typically, I HATE black paint jobs, they hide the beauty of the car), special gloss black diamond turned wheels, and enough carbon fiber trim to resink the Titanic. Anyway, away we go! the rims will need cleaning up AND after test fitting the tires, the rims are not only too wide, but they are not big enough for the rubber. There is just a very small gap between rim and tire, it's hardly noticeable, but it does allow some "play" in the tire and rim. SO, I will have to attach a piece of styrene around the rim to widen its diameter. four nasty mold lines dominate the sides of the car. Thankfully, the rear ones run down the B pillar and across the ducktail spoiler, the front ones run down the A pillar and into the headlight assembly. Those'll have to go! and for the PE, Hobby Design. And the whole build: Not pictured is the Scale Motorsport 1/24 twill weave carbon fiber sheets.

I bought the monogram Aston martin DB4 off ebay. I wanted to build a 007 kit, but my modelling skills don't justify $100.00 for the James bond DB5 kit so i settled. When i got the kit it was missing half an engine some suspension part. I put the kit away and gave up on it. Then i saw a design by Bo Zolland for a volvo p1800 wagon with large wire wheels. I finally had a direction to take this kit, I used the suspension and engine from the early amt viper. The paint is ppg waterborne aston martin silver birch code: 1180. I was about to finish this thing today when I tried to install the glass and found it's not even close to fitting. So I'm going to make the window from something, install the interior and exhaust. Please feel free to criticize I'm really starting to hate this kit. Thanks for looking.
