Scale I Build

Found 10 results

  1. Hey guys !! So I had popliteal artery graft surgery on Monday. Layed up for about a month so the wife is letting me build some models !! Which should be a huge help to keep my mind off of other stuff. Started with this amt 69 camaro convertible. Chose this one cause I love camaros and the kit didn't have alot of parts. An easy kit to get back into building. Some pics so far..
  2. I've started this 1951 Chevy Bel Air that I haven't built before, although I did build a 1951 Chevy Fleetline about 25 years ago. It still looks pretty good, its a drab gray. Most of the 1951 Chevy colors are pretty drab so this one is going to be a nice Day 2 bright color. I'm thinking Nassau Blue Metallic with a dark blue and white interior. the top is white and I had a boo-boo on the first coat, so I sanded it out and will repaint today. I'll get the rest of the parts painted today and work on the color coat tomorrow. Thanks for looking! ?
  3. This is the Revell Foose kit. I had some Tamiya Racing Green so I thought it might pass for a dark green. So I painted the top with Tamiya Semi-gloss black and added a coat of Krylon Clear lacquer and then after it dried taped off the top and painted the Tamiya Racing Green. I probably won't use the Foose wheels and tires so this won't be a replica but the paint kinda pops with this color. I think Testors discontinued the Fathon Green Metallic so that's not available but might have matched better. I am going to add another coat of Clear tomorrow and move on. The finish looks good at this point and once it is rubbed out and foiled I think it will make a nice model, if you like green, Not my favorite color but I like changing things up a bit. Thanks for looking! ?
  4. Ok, so I decided to see if I could create Philo Beddoe's pickup from the movie "Every Which Way But Loose". I knew from memory it was a tri five Chevy. After a quick search on the internet, I discovered that it was a 55 Chevy step side 3204. The model kit I am using is a Chevy model 3104 with a 114 inch wheelbase (short box). The build requires a stepside 3204 which has a 123.25 inch wheelbase. To do this I will use the amt 55 Chevy Stepside Street Machine for the majority of the build. I will use an old busted up Chevy Cheyenne stepside pickup for the longer 90 inch bed required. I will have to cut it down a bit but the floor and sides will work great for my needs.
  5. Getting back into the hobby after a long break. Building a "daily driver" for a future diorama I am planning. I have been sitting on the sidelines for quite a while admiring everybody's work, and thought maybe I am now worthy to show mine. This is my second build in 30 years. I have lots of pics so let me know if you want to see the process to this point. I still have to put on the battery cables, antenna's, license plates, mirrors, etc. Enjoy!
  6. Here is a 1950 Chevy Truck that i built as a work in progress truck/daily. I've seen a couple 1:1s like these and decided why not build one, but for some reason i think this one took longer to build then one those that i've built with full paint and gloss! Red primer with touch ups and bondo spots, custom made spare tire fender and spare tire carrier, dropped stock suspension, custom made 560 white walls, custom made from bumper cattle guard, custom made step board luggage carrier, and a bunch of other misc items.
  7. Well this is my first build for ten years (maybe even longer) and now its nearly finished i thought I would share some pics. All I have left to do is paint the lights, fit the grille which will be a photo etch one and paint and fit the bumpers and exterior mirrors. I plan to get another of this kit so I would like some constructive criticism. I made my own plug wires from an old telly and while they are too big scale, I am quite pleased with how they turned out. I have used a lot of tips from this forum and others and gotten really frustrated at times, particularly with the suspension which just did not line up ( dry build before paint next time) and with the primer which just would not harden on the body but did everywhere else(twice from 2 different rattle tins so i changed to Holts acrylic with Holts clear plastic primer) I will write a longer bit when i post the finished pics, which i hope my mate will do cos i just cant take a decent pics of models. hope to have finished pics up by wednesday. I look forward to your advice and comments. Thanks for looking
  8. Almost done but not yet.........All the wife's idea....... Cheers Chris
