Ya' better be careful Dave or the guys at Precision Chassis are going to start accusing you of stealing parts from the shop.   Perfection.   cheers, tim

Incredible workmanship. I have a question though. Is the staggering of the front suspension due to the angle of the photo, or a chassis engineering solution?

Posted

brad, thank you!!!

tim, thanks but, i'm sure they got nothing to worry about! hehe.

bob, the stagger is on purpose. sort version is, it keeps the the tire in the beam longer and helps shorten the track. left side is always leading, right always trailing.  hope this helps.

That explanation was a thing of beauty Dave. I almost cried. Almost.

Man, you use every square inch of that workspace.

Have you ever noticed how some people are neater than others?

john, many thanks buddy!

joe, i have noticed that joe. you and i seem to be on a common link.

so, been busy with some LARGE developments on the "37. the little cars had to suffer a little. any way, got a gauge package together. the air shifter stuff is a work in progress. steering wheel is done. also made the nitrous bottle mounts and the air bottle for the shifter. still need to make some gauges and regulators for both bottles....but we'll get there.

Gotta agree wholeheartedly with John, there are so many ways to engineer something to accomplish the task at hand.  The bottle arrangement, their design and quality really compliment the car.  I enjoy staring at the obscure things on the car such as particular tabs and brackets etc.  A lot of ingenuity to go along with top notch execution.  btw, saw what you did there.  too funny.    cheers, tim

Incredible as always Dave.

I will be back at it shortly. I just received an order for 0-80 & 00-90 bolts, washers & nuts for the Knitro Knight.

Not bad either. 350 pieces for less than $60.00.

Enough about me. Can we discuss focus techniques when you're not busy, which apparently, is NEVER.

Looks great Dave. Are the mounting locations for the bottles mandated by NHRA, or is it up to the builder? At this rate you'll have it done by Sept for the show.

sorry for the long delay guys. i've been accumulating stuff for a another engine ( can you say 730"? ) and well........you know. time just seems to get away from me.

john, thanks buddy!!!

tim, thanks my friend. i knew you would catch that.

joe, i keep playing the song neon nights in my head only i change the words to nitro knights.

dave thanks. i don't believe there is a reg. for the location of the bottles.

samuel, i get most of my dimensions from either real parts / cars or through extensive internet searches. when that fails, i extrapolate dimensions from pictures.

mike, thanks and glad your following along. the wheelbase alone is 34.375" (275" in 1:1 scale. it's about 40" from tip to tip. no wheelie bar.

dave, thanks !!  man i really enjoy your willys. can't wait for the next one.

my new play toy.

WOW! Dave sweet build. I love that Sonny Leonard hemi bbc. I was thinking of using one of those in my next build. It's going to be a '65 promod/street race mustang in 1/12 scale. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this.

thanks ron. not sure  if you've ever seen some of my other work so i'll post a few of my other  builds. about 99.5% of the builds i do are scratch built.  feel free to ask questions.

Good grief Dave those are Frick n awesome man!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had your talent. I'm a retired automotive engineer with 30 plus years with the big three and I can tell you that is some fantastic engineering. Prass be to Dave the guru of 1/8 scale.
