Pikes Peak Racing photos

Recommended Posts

I'm planning a Pikes Peak racer project from the mid 70's and am in need of some reference photos of the time period. For a race as old and well thought of as Pikes Peak there is precious little photographical historical data on the web that I can find. Does anyone have any photos in their archives from the 60's and 70's?. Any help would be appreciated.

Pinterest is a good place to search and hopefully these links aren't ones you've already found. Searching by driver names is also a good lead into other photos. That said, I see what you mean about not a lot on the net. Maybe someone has a good book source.

I found a fair number of jumping-off points for articles by doing an image search for "Pikes Peak race history". Here's one:

Lunajammer is right about pinterest too. Here's a starting point: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/559501953678247583/

Unfortunately, it looks like there was a rather extensive photo archive of Pikes Peak competitions from the 1910s through the '60s, but the links posted at the HAMB seem to be dead.

I recently picked up the Bobby Allison 75 Matador stocker.  I've zero interest in pretty much any circle track cars,  but I have seen a few pics of 70s Era stock cars used for PP. I was just hoping to find some more info on how the cars were set up.  What changes I'd have to make to make it authentic. Thanks for the help guys,  I'll check it all out tonight.
