cobraman Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Decided I would build this since I could not get a trade I wanted. I bought it at a good price on ebay. It had the hood scoop glued together and the scoop onto the hood. The trunk was also glued to the body. Whoever glued these parts used some type of rubber cement and the parts came apart without and problem. I think I will build it with the lesser known "B" paint scheme rather than the "A" seen on the box art.
Crazy Ed Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Goin' for the "Sleeper" paint scheme!! Ray you're really on a building Tear ain't ya!
mod3l Lover Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 (edited) Ray, I look forward to seeing this build come along. Having been a Nash,Rambler and AMC fan for quite some time. Are you doing this paint version? (photo below) I always liked that look better! David S. Sorry Ray, but just had to add this other tidbit! Edited April 29, 2016 by mod3l Lover
DrKerry Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I'm doing an altered wheel base of the Rambler with the "B" scheme on it.....
cobraman Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 Hmmmmmmm an AWB Rambler. Sounds interesting.
DrKerry Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Hmmmmmmm an AWB Rambler. Sounds interesting. Yup, Jimmy Flintstone has the body and has been going to cast it but not yet....
cobraman Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 I like that a lot ! Would love to see it finished.
DrKerry Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Hopefully some year. Gotta get the body back from Jimmy. Need to stop by his place again anyway.
1972coronet Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Does that issue of the AMC / Rambler have the old Nash 287 / 327 V8 or does it have a "contemporary" AMC V8 ?
Harry P. Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Ray, I look forward to seeing this build come along. Having been a Nash,Rambler and AMC fan for quite some time. Are you doing this paint version? (photo below) I always liked that look better! David S. Sorry Ray, but just had to add this other tidbit! Note they misspelled "Road Runner" in the ad. Ooops...
cobraman Posted May 1, 2016 Author Posted May 1, 2016 I didn't notice that. Good catch. I know you like the "A" scheme better Harry but that is the one you always see. I think some folks don't even know there was another version and that is my main reason for wanting to do it.
mod3l Lover Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 You could even get the options by orderingthem separate and have any color youwanted that way. But not the wheels! We had a guy here where I live that had aplain light blue one with dog dish hub capsand painted wheels. I'm sure the seats were not available either! They were being built in Racine Wisconsinat the time. David S.
cobraman Posted May 5, 2016 Author Posted May 5, 2016 I managed to get some more work done on this one. Body was prepped and primed. Then wet sanded and sprayed white. The lower blue has been applied. I think it is a bit darker than it should be but does look darker in this photo than it really is. The red stripe will be done with decals cut from the decal sheet that comes with the car.
Harry P. Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I didn't notice that. Good catch. I know you like the "A" scheme better Harry but that is the one you always see. I think some folks don't even know there was another version and that is my main reason for wanting to do it. No complaints from me, Ray. I totally get your reasoning for wanting to do the lesser-known color scheme. Build on, man!
cobraman Posted May 5, 2016 Author Posted May 5, 2016 I just noticed a boo-boo. I need to fix the blue on the front fender. You'll notice I brought the blue up too high on the very front of the fender. Hopefully I can fix it without doing more harm than good.
cobraman Posted May 8, 2016 Author Posted May 8, 2016 Did a quick mock up. Body is ready to be cleared. ( maybe tomorrow ) I see there is some much needed touch up on the wheel centers. Pretty happy with it so far. My favorite task is still ahead of me..... BMF. : (
