towman1271 Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Although most of my builds are in the Truck side of the forum, i am a race fan. I am planning on doing my old favorite DW's Daytona winning Tide ride.. Looking for suggestions on what color would best be used on it.. Mainly in spray can form. Thanks
bbowser Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 I used a fluorescent orange on mine many years ago. It was flat so it needs a gloss coat of some kind before adding decals.
Psychographic Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 The tide car was done in florescent from what I understand. The problem is florescent dye is not lightfast. So if you do this, keep the model out of direct light to keep it from fading.

IJ001 Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 I used Tamiya's 'Orange' straight from the rattle-can on Ricky's 2002 Taurus that I finished last year. Ian.

OldTrucker Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 I just used Testors competition orange over white primer when I did mine years back.
935k3 Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Tamiya has a new TS color, TS-96 fluorescent orange that should do the trick
dragcarz Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Testers Floresent red over the white base coat. DuPont automotive Cleat coat.
kitbash1 Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Back when I was a printer, we printed the Tide boxes. To make the Florescent Orange on the box pop more, we printed it over Florescent Yellow. So if you spray yellow over white primer then the orange, you should get the same rich Tide Orange colour after you clear coat .

dragcarz Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Thanks, older build from 1993, rear spoiler popped off, have to glue it back on.
Jay Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 I used Tamiya neon orange(PS-24) on my current Tide project... it's for lexan, but works great with two part clear cover it.
