cpspoogie Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Making this straight Camaro for a buddy, another “high school car” project. The only kit I could find to use was the Monogram Midnight Z. Lots of cutting and putty work ahead.
Ron Hamilton Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Good luck. One of the projects I have going is a model of my 78 Camaro Sport Coupe.

Can-Con Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Humm, I think I'd try scaring up an MPC rubber bumper car. The flares and spoilers are separate on those.

cpspoogie Posted August 14, 2018 Author Posted August 14, 2018 Some initial sanding and putty work. The spoilers were fairly easy to cut off and sand. Had to put a thin backing of sheet styrene to build up the stock front wheel wells.
Oldcarfan27 Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 I tried filling in the T-tops using the clear plastic parts and using spot putty. Problem is the clear plastic has a different makeup than the black plastic and glue and spot putty reacts differently to each of them. Later on, I had shrinkage with the putty and you can clearly see where the T-tops and fender gills were. May I suggest using a different filler. I now only use pieces of plastic and super glue to fill larger gaps. It sets as hard as the rest of the body plastic, so no shrinkage. I only use spot putty to feather edge small areas. Best wishes on your build.

Got on a coat of Of flat white before the yellow. The hood came out pretty nice. That white shows I need a little more sanding over the fender louvers.

cpspoogie Posted January 19, 2019 Author Posted January 19, 2019 Done and on my buddy’s shelf. Not sure how to switch this to the “Under Glass” section? It’s not bad but I learn more every time.
cpspoogie Posted January 19, 2019 Author Posted January 19, 2019 (edited) I forgot the trim at the bottom! Edited January 19, 2019 by cpspoogie
BigTallDad Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Nice job! Instead of trying to move this to the "Under Glass" area, start a new thread there and show some pictures of the completed model. Then include a link to this WIP so readers can see the finished model, then look at how it was done.
