marv13 Posted January 14, 2020 Share Posted January 14, 2020 I am currently building a kitbash 69 torino from the need for speed movie, starring Aaron Paul. It consists of AMTs 69 torino cobra kit with the chassis from the AMT 69 fairlane, resin wheels and 5.0 Coyote from the Revell 2014 Mustang gt. The movie car had an LS engine (https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-ford-torino-gt-2/) but we only see the top of the intake in the movie which i can use as an excuse to use a the 5L. The interior is a mish-mash of 69 torino with the 66 Fairlane floor along with the steering wheel from the Revell ford coupe. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

marv13 Posted January 20, 2020 Author Share Posted January 20, 2020 Another update, I managed to find the correct Torino GT grille from a glue bomb on stealbay and got the interior mocked up. The engine will use the headers from an AMT dodge pro-street kit. I also added the torino GT gas cap which the original Torino cobra kit did not have. I built a resin 68 Fairlane formal roof a few years ago and also used the AMT 66 Fairlane chassis. I was surprised how little I had to do to make it fit. Something I did to mine that I thought came out pretty good was I carefully cut the grill and bumper assembly apart. I made my own gravel pan that goes between the grill and bumper and painted it body color. I thought it added some depth to the front end. Not sure I'd have the guts to try it on that original GT grill though. Might could achieve the same effect with some strategic masking and painting a strip of body color between the grill and bumper.
