jdcar32 Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 In my continuing search for less expensive alternatives I found this Amazon item for $6.49 free ship ( member ) . Promoted for doing nails but it may work for carpet. I want to simulate a 'tuxedo' carpet - red with flecks of black. Has anyone used this product ? I will report results later.
Rick L Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 You got a great deal! I had used flocking to recreate a scale model of a 70’s conversion van a friend of mine owned. He had shag rug from walls to ceiling. It was a perfect match. To recreate a tuxedo carpet however, you may have better luck with embossing powder.
iamsuperdan Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 I've used the flocking powder for most of my builds. I've tried some embossing powder recently, with really nice results. The brand is Ranger, and it's available on Amazon. I would imagine adding some black to the red could give you the effect you want.
Andrew McD Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 I have had decent results with embossing powder but since it was a gift I can't comment on the cost effectiveness. I'll be interested to see your results.
