2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD

Dr. Cranky

Recommended Posts

Thank's Doc , well here's the start of mine , I'm using an old glue bomb underbody since I'm cutting and chopping as I go rather than a new floorpan . To start with I've moved the front subframe/engine/gearbox/diff unit to the rear of the car to make it mid engined (was trialed by the factory in the 60's and by others since to make a twin engined , all wheel drive mini) , I'm only going to use one engine though , I have other plans for the engine bay ....

Bodywork is going to be mostly standard and a nice pink colour as this is a different form of zombie hunter than the other builds so far , it'll be just as deadly though , if not more so ....

Hey doc was thinking bout doing one so today went to my lhs to look what they had must say this is a big build cause he knew what i was talking bout because he had guys comming in and buying stuff for this build i LIVE IN CLEVELAND OHIO WOW!!! Keeep it up Doc!!!!

TOM, thanks for the information. Yes, I know this will be the biggest TZH SQUAD CARAVAN so far. I am really delighted by the turn out. Which means, my friend, that you just can't walk away and NOT DO one of these. You are committed, TOM. Give it a try, come on. You know you want to!

Help Gen. EYEGORE fight Toothless Zombies EVERYWHERE, Join the TZH SQUAD!

Blazefox, I think the kit was only released by AMT, but I could be wrong about that.

Good start, Ian. Keep it going.

Rylan, I am delighted Doctor Cranky could be a service. Keep up the eye candy! Keep having fun. What else is there?

DALE, just when you think you've seen it all with what is possible with these builds, along comes this one, YOUR BUILD, a Zombie GRINDER!? Wow, amazing. The eye candy quotient for this thread is through the roof.

Steven, it WOULD be great if Revell did a Continental kit and put it out in the next couple of years . ..

So I already have my idea for a shiny retro-post-alien-robot-apocalypse-rebuilt-civilization hot-rod, but you guys have me thinking about a proper post-zombie-apocalypse survival vehicle.

I want to do a scout car type of vehicle, and I have been thinking about what kind of criteria such a vehicle will need to fulfill.

-Small

-Fuel efficient, but still reasonably powerful and fast

-Large fuel capacity

-Good handling for evasive maneuvering

-Reliable and *very* easy to maintain in the field (no computerized engine management)

-Room for 2 people (driver and navigator/gunner) and supplies for a long trip

I thought about a Morris Mini Cooper rally car, but I don't know how well front-wheel-drive would fit that environment, and it's probably not powerful enough.

I thought about a Lotus Seven, but I'm not sure an open cabin is a good idea, and it's probably not suitable for a long term trip on damaged roads.

Right now, I'm leaning towards a V-8 Gremlin, with some performance mods, an extra fuel tank inside the hatch, and some kind of small and light gun for last-ditch situations.

Any thoughts?

Here's some pics of where I'm headed, as I've said this little squad of hard core rodders and mercenaries banded together to survive and have decided to join Doc's zombie hunter caravan although these guys don't care if it's zombies, aliens or mutants......have gun will travel!

I'm thinking we might come across something that at least had some brain functions so the tractor towing the lowboy with the helicopter should look at bit intimating. I'm molding in a new grille to replace the "Pete" billboard. The '57 Caddy is providing armed escort as the stripped down gun ship in tow is vulnerable on the trailer. Anyway, less talk more pics.....

OH REALLY, YOU GUYS ARE KILLING ME. Plain and simple, this is BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY. HOLY SMOKES, seriously, I don't think many of us have seen this kind of work being done so beautifully all over the place. The eye candy and imagination is way out of control.

EYEGORE want to know why I am screaming!

HOLY TOLEDO!

I was behind a regular Mini Cooper out in the bush (crappy dirt roads, possibly wet, I don't recall). I was driving a Mazda R100 rotary, and I was having trouble keeping up with the thing.

Really? Hmmmm... (the gears are turning...)

I have also thought about using my 68 Dodge Hemi Dart as a kind of courier, to quickly carry messages and information in a straight line from one survivor settlement to another...
