Joker
This build is for another forum (H.A.M.B.) build off,but I thought I'll post it here too. It's a AMT 59 EL Camino. Going to add bubble skirts with 3 spears in each opening. Haven't decided on rolling stock yet. Keeping the original grill and tail lites.Getting rid of the door handles. and the Chevy scripts.Thinking of a two tone finish for this build. And of course ...some scallops This pic shows the 4 Fred Cady decal sheets I picked up from Jim Heller here in Richmond. Got a white, red, gold and silver sets. moparfarmer
The Camino looks killer. Maybe rid of the cruiser skirts and do fender well skirts instead. It will compliment the lines

Joker
This is what happens when primer is applied.. The black Dupli-Color primer looked sinister.....so I broke out some pinner white walls and stash box rims just for a look see..not too shabby..maybe for my next El Camino ..I'll go Street Terror ! LOL James aka Joker
bryan_m
youre right, the black primer does look sinister! im liking it alot nice work, keep `er goin bryan
59 Impala
I'm liken this one fer sure. Looks great dressed in Black. I'll keep an eye on this. Dan
CorvairJim
It looks great in black suede, but I agree - stick with your plan. The cruiser skirts go perfectly with the lines of the body, flowing down at the same curve as thew quarter panel. I'll be watching this build... and the black-primered followup! Nick Winter
Loving the 90's 1/2 ton Chevy Pickup Steelies on it, never would have thought they'd compliment that Elky the way they do. Nick
Joker
Back on track..Kustom track not the Street Terror track...hahaha Shaved off the door handles and side scripts, also removed the tailgate round thingie... Added the spears to the skirt openings I made them with half round .040" styrene sanded them to a point with a sanding stick. I'm making an orange and white tear drop shifter as soon as I get some orange styrene. Close up pix of tear drop shifter..taken by G.H. This pic taken by G.H. at a RAMS club meet. Joker
UPDATE... Got the white walls and Sombrero Caddy hubcaps from a 49 Merc ...needed to add cones to the center ..so I sanded down some spot lites to fit. Also sprayed some mettalic silver over the primer and then sprayed Roadstar Florida Orange. Made a hard bed cover to replace the tuck and roll cover that was in the kit. James aka Joker
59 Impala
Nice, real nice. I like the two tone paint on this truck. I also like what you did to the wheels. Two thumbs up.

Joker
Thanks Y'all.. Good news/Bad news.. Bad news is that I dropped the interior bucket..grrrr Gotta resand and paint..np Good news..got a Boot Hill skeleton for a driver. Broke all his joints and reset them in a driver position. Had to shorten his spine some so his skull wouldn't hit the ceiling..hahaha Also removed his pistol and holster. He was molded in orange but will get the treatment later on today. Joker
I raided a Monogram 59 hardtop for parts.. Got the front bumper with over ride and the two piece air vent "eye brows" they have a chrome trim that is attached to the hood. Finished the Amber and White turn signal and shifter. My "driver" looks a little too over done..might have to redo the treatment. I also got the hard top steering wheel..the kit one looks too plain. waiting on the interior to gas out some more before sanding ...etc etc etc James aka Joker
Joker
Minor Major paint boo boo...grrr The Testors White Lightning coat bubbled on me.. I must have contaminated the driver side some how. Didn't want to loose any detail by sanding so into the tank it goes. LA degreaser James the jokes on me...hahahahaha
Joker
The Dollar Store Awesome degreaser did a number on the Testors paint. Scrubbed the paint off with a toothbrush, some warm water and some elbow grease. The Dupli-Color black primer and the Dupli-Color Silver mettalic paint were untouched..weird.So for now I'm happy the Testors was removed the body is going to get a light sanding and then repainted... Stay tuned.. Joker
