Platerpants Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) So i will be using a revell silverado to make a 4x4. well i wanted IFS not solid front axle so its correct. Well AMT Escalade is 4x4. I took a gamble and got this. This will turn into the silverado topic once im started on it. Need to do some trimming though. Not perfect but works for me Edited January 10, 2015 by Platerpants
Joker Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 That will sling some mud ! Practice makes perfect.
Platerpants Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 Well Got the 4x4 Gear Set to the Silverado Chassis. Left is Silverado with resin cast parts, right is Escalade with originals. The Silverado Control Arms Scream 2WD But it is what i have to work with.
MsDano85gt Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 good start is that made from a casting kit like th e one you can buy at hobby lobbys?? i'm interested in making some of my own smaller parts....
Platerpants Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 good start is that made from a casting kit like th e one you can buy at hobby lobbys?? i'm interested in making some of my own smaller parts.... yes it is from a casting kit
Platerpants Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 Since the chevy is a 4x4 it needs torsion bars. Making the mold for the cross members and torsion bars from the escalade. Yes i know the mold is unprofessional looking but its for my personal use anyway. More to come. If an admin could move this to on the work bench thatd be cool, id hate for those nitpickers to start saying this isnt complete blah dee blah blah...
Platerpants Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 and the product after a little trimming for the silverado frame.
Whelen36 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Why didn't you mold up new a-arms for the Silverado ? Are they molded to the frame? Just wondering, think i'de like to try that, that Silverado kit was just screaming to be a 4x4. Really nice work.
Platerpants Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 Thanks Guys. The A arms are wider on the Escalade so I didnt want to have to keep hacking at parts, although hacking is my specialty.
Platerpants Posted January 12, 2015 Author Posted January 12, 2015 Because i can be different they will get reid racing knuckles. Little update on the silverado side of this multiproject topic.
Platerpants Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 got some work done on the chevy. Tinted lights at the request of my chevy buddy
