Guest Gramps-xrds Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 (edited) Some new lettering for an older model. And here's how it's done Mix some paint to gold sizing and letter it. Wait a few hrs for it to set. then apply the gold and brush off the excess. Then apply the trim color. add the rest of the lettering and you're done Edited May 19, 2008 by Gramps-xrds

CB Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 And here's how it's done Reduced: 64% of original size [ 800 x 600 ] - Click to view full image Artist at work! Thanks Gramps, for the demo. Like to see this here '40 running across the top of the page, mebbe poppin' a little wheelie, and some flames coming outa the pipes . Should be part of the new logo. Ya know guys, I think Gramps's greatest talent is the way he stuffs them huge engines under the hoods of his rides. I'll bet there aint no clearance between them carbs and the hood . Another great one, 'Great One'
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Well guys it's sure not my best work, but you get the idea. The hardest part was finding a brush to use. All these brushes and I can't get any of them to do what I want. I don't see to good either

George-George-George. I'll be 63 in a couple of mo.s Steady hand ? That's why all those brushes have real long hair in them. I've had bi-lateral carpel tunnel surgery twice and the doc says I still got it. So Gramps-Cramps Yep.
george 53 Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 63? yeah right! You got the steady hand of a 20 yr. old.AND I don't know any 20 yr. olds that can pinstripe with a CHICKEN FEATHER! I've had Carpel Tunnel surgery on both wrists that were totaly successful (I know some aren't) and now I can do my bizz with BOTH hands! Your a pretty ###### good painter Bill,Just hope your eyes hold out ,Cuz them pinstripes can get awful thin!
Raul_Perez Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Too cool!! You don't see too many people do real gold leaf anymore, especially in small scale!! Keep up the GREAT work!!
Jairus Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 I LOVE IT!!!! And yet you didn't see fit to correct the misspelling.... ?
Gregg Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Get back to building I have a mag to finish (Right, Rick?)
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 (edited) And yet you didn't see fit to correct the misspelling.... ? Misspelling ? I did have magazine misspelled when I was doing it and had to change it. That happens a lot when you're concentrating on one letter at a time. I'm afraid you'll have to explain. Please. OH MY I see it now. Gregg, I'm very very sorry for that. It was very late when I finished last night and I was in a hurry. I do have a legal excuse though, I live in West Virginia and am a high school drop out  Edited May 18, 2008 by Gramps-xrds

Modellpularn Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Very cool and professional! I had the feeling you were some sort of sign painter, or artist.... I mean to do that kind of work free hand is truly done by someone who's talented! Or has done it a long time......
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Thank you all for your kind comments and remarks, and Gregg I hope you'll forgive me
Joe Handley Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 So long as some automotive engineering society doesn't get involved Very cool BTW!
