hey guys,

i just dug up a model i got started on ages ago

the paint is allright but the BMF is not finished

i started putting it on but never trimmed it or removed the excess

so now i want to start over, i ont mind keeping the paint (or losing it) but i really need to get rid of the BMF i started

any suggestions ?

If it hasn't been cleared over, I've had good luck using good, sticky masking tape to peel off old BMF. Just burnish it down over the foil and pull it off- most of it should pull free with the tape.

I actually peeled the top layers of clear off trying to remove BMF on one of my cars. Never did figure out why, as it didn't do it to any of the other ones I used it on.

You didn't mention what kind of paint it is, but if it is long time cured, no matter what it is, you should be able to safely use the cheaper 70% rubbing alcohol to soften the BMF adhesive. That with the aforementioned tape trick should help. And as for the residual adhesive, back to the same alcohol...

well i tried several different kinds of tape and no luck

ill be trying the wood and the alcohol next

(probably the alcohol first so as not to damage the paint)
