  1. Man Tyrone, sweet build! I like how it looks like its about to have a wheels up launch as soon as you punch it.
  2. Bruce, This is a very nice build. I like that you challenged yourself and stepped out of your comfort zone. Do you have any engine pics? Do you plan on doing any more builds of this kit? Ep
  3. Quick question: are you attaching your doors to the body or to the chassis? Ep
  4. Simon, if everything falls right (and it should) I'll be there as a spectator. Can't wait to see some of these long term projects up close. Looking forward to it all. Ep
  5. What magnets did you use for the doors?
  6. Chris, After looking at this update, the question comes to my mind, will this be your method for painting the blue on the body? Ep
  7. Is that the newer Revell Willys kit?
  8. George, what car are you wanting to do? There are plenty of resin bodies out there. You should check out Compresins.com to see the bodies they have on offer. Also, check with Slixx for the decals that match the funny car bodies. Hope this helps. Ep
  9. As I've given up on Revell and it's love affair with "vintage iron" these days, I'm hoping that Tamiya would take a serious look at the Aussie Super V8 series. There are only a few brands on the track but a company like Studio 27 (a Japanese Slixx, if you will) could fill in the gaps with all the available teams that are currently competing these days. I'd buy more than my share from both Tamiya and Studio 27 if they would get around to kitting these cars. Erroll (aka Ep)
  10. You say you're running out of time. Are you planning on having it done for the Southern Nationals?
  11. I may be late to this game if it has been discussed before but will FM's 16 th scale tires ever return? Has there been a reason as to why they are "not available"? Can someone enlighten me on this? Ep
  12. I like the smell of lacquer paints and fingernail polishes and also Testor's tube glue. I like the smell or diferent smells of models while I'm viewing them at a contest too.
  13. Clay, I have to say that along with everyone else I am beyond impressed with your fabrication skills in model building. What gets me about this build is that it seems like we're following along with a build up of a full size car as you're leaving no stone unturned when it comes to detailing. What also impresses me is that your photography makes it seem like you're building a full size race car. Based on what you've done so far, I have no doubt that this is going end up being what I call "GSL Best in Show" worthy. I'll go so far as to say that it could very well end up being an IPMS Nationals "Best in Show" worthy. Keep up the outstanding work. Looking forward to the next update. Ep (Dad worthy since 1993)
  14. I don't know if anyone has mentioned it already but I'd love to see Revell (or anyone for that matter) come out with a new line of current 16 th scale drag cars and ( very wishful thinking with the liscensing issues) Nascar cars annd trucks. My thinking is that all they would have to do is come out with a few cars and then Slixx or someone else would take over in producing many more decals for other cars. I believe that the aftermarket would supply additional funny car bodies and if Nascar cars were being produced, the aftermarket would be ready and waiting for them as well. With many of the fringe modelers getting older, this scale would seem to be a no brainer Ep
  15. Dave, I'd hit up Compresins.com or maybe Scalemodelingbychris.com to see what drag slicks they have on offer. I'm sure between the 2 you'll find what you're looking for. Ep
  16. Tim, What really matters is if you can afford $179 or more. If not, don't sweat it. There will be another one on Ebay soon enough, if not right now. Ep
  17. I believe the "early" funny cars consists of the Revell early 70's kits. That would be the Jungle Jim Vega, The Gene Snow Charger, Chi Town Hustler and etc. The "late" funny cars would consist of anything that was a repackaged Monogram funny car from the mid 80's. Those would be the John Force Castrol car, Ed "the Ace" Miller car and anything that came after them. Most likely you're looking at using the early Revell kits unless it specifically mentioned a particular kit to use (i.e. Monogram Cop Out). Hope this helps. Ep
  18. Jeff, I might've missed it, but are you planning on casting and selling the bodies that you've been showing here? I would love to have a few of the bodies that I've seen, especially the Chevelle. Thanks, Earl P
  19. Chris, no need to apologize. Life happens and work is a must which allows us to have this great hobby. Do your thing work wise and get back to the bench in your own time. Hopefully, the 3 weeks turns into something longer. Ep
  20. Oh ma goodness!! When I saw the title of this thread and then started reading some of the comments, I knew right away that it was my old friend PJ Toys up to his old tricks!!! This guy is some piece of work to say the least. In addition to his ridiculous pricing of parts and his "fantastic" feedback (questionable to say the least), what really gets me is his responses to negative feedback. If a buyer has a legitimate complaint, he bashes the buyer and then labels them a "bad buyer"......oh I'm sorry "BaD Byr" and tells other sellers to "beware" of this buyer (who happens to have good feedback) or he just out & out insults them (i.e. "Are you blind"). The bad thing about the parts is that there are things that I would like to buy (a complete T/F engine) but just on principle, I won't buy from someone who treats customers the way he does via his feedback. Oh and like soomeone else said, he won't combine shipping?? Man, I'd really like to me some of his "customers" who think he's the greatest thing since slice bread. I got some really good swamp land that i'd like to sell them. Shakin' my head just thinking about this guy.
  21. Harry, I don't know about any other states but in Texas it is actually the law (or was) that car dealerships could not be open on consecutive weekend days. Besides, there are people who simply appreciate being able to worship on Sundays. Ep
  22. I'm looking to see what year was the last year model that RM kitted and then what year did the resin casters start from. I'm interested in getting some of the SMH Racing's resin bodies for the Dodge Charger, Chevy Impala and maybe the Toyota Camry that they have on offer. I want to be able to match up the decals correctly to the kit bodies(ex. Denny Hamlin 06' Fed Ex Impala). Was this car available as the kit or would I need a resin body for it? Ep
  23. Chris, I don't think I have commented on your build before but I just want to join in with the others in saying that you are doing an outstanding job on this build. I believe your build, once finished, will be what I call "GSL worthy" and will be competing for many Best in Show awards. Keep up the good work and I look forward to more updates. Ep

  25. I didn't see it mentioned but before you put ANY KIND of paint on the body, you must wash all your parts (excluding chrome) with warm dishwater, usually the palm olive brand works best, to remove any mold release that is invisible to the eye but is there none the less. This is a chemical that is on every new kit that comes out of the molds and it will wreck havoc on your paint job (fisheyes) if you don't wash the parts. Also, you would want to lightly scuff the plastic of the body parts with 600 grit wet or dry sandpaper (wet, dipped in a bowl of water from time to time) just so that you will get the "sheen" off of the plastic. This will promote better paint adhesion when you do this. And lastly, like everyone has said, if you can't afford an airbrush at this time, by all means get some spray paint. Testors has some really nice colors that are geared towards automotive subjects. Hope this helps. Ep
