Hello all, Does anyone know where I might find the instruction sheet for the AMT 87 Ford Mustang GT online? I found: "AMT 88 Ford Mustang Millennium Edition" here: http://public.fotki....988_ford_musta/ Does anyone know if they are the same kit with minor changes...or if they are totally different? Thanks, Brian

My Redneck Photo Studio
Brian_B replied to Draggon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Redneck would be more like using a crayon and a notpad to draw a pic of the model. -
The name and stuff is listed in my thread Bryan. Used it today. $1 a bottle. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=63246&hl=

Glad to hear that stuff is working. I love it. Cheap too $1 a bottle.

Very nice build. I need your assistance. In this picture (see attachment): I can see the exhaust manifold and what appears to be a a crossover pipe just in front of the steering. I have seen these on other ones as well around here. I am currently starting this same AMT 49 for kit, yet cannot find any exhaust manifolds for the flat head, nor a crossover pipe. They do not appear on the instructions. I cannot find anything on the sprue. Are you instructions different than mine (see attachment)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well yesterday I messed up. I grabbed a can of red primer out of the garage without thinking. It did not stick and was sort of a gummy mess. I know about "the purple pond", brake fluid, over cleaner..etc. However, you can get LA's Totally awesome all purpose cleaner for $1 at the dollar tree (see thumbnail). I tossed the frame\floor pan in there for about 40 minutes. Sloshed it around a little at that point. Then let it sit another 20 minutes. I used a toothbrush (3 pack for $1) and brushed it off under warm water. The result? See for yourself (thumbnail). I am letting it air dry then will prime it with the correct primer later.

Hmm...you can bend this stuff? I thought I would have to buy the "evergreen" type plastics everyone talks about on here. Thank you!

Thank you, Please let me know what you come up with. Looking closely at the engine...there are half rounds where I thought the exhaust manifolds should be. Maybe that is what they are representing the manifolds with? If so, there still should be some sort of crossover. I will keep digging for pics online. I don't want to run dual exhaust...(even though its in the kid for the cady engine). I just found this in MrObsessive's fotki account from his 49 mercury build. That kit is revelle..and mine is AMT. II bet the half rounds are supposed to represent the exhaust manifolds. Any suggestions on how to fake a crossover? Sprue is too thick to use with this kit.

Hi guys, This have been hectic around here. I have a light coat of gray primer on the body. There will be some body work, but not as much as I expected. I will get it under some bright light tomorrow when its dry. I have the underside of the floorboards painted with red primer, which was common for fords of this era. When it dries I will paint the frame and body mounts black. The gas tank will be gun metal. The exhaust, transmission, seat belts, engine accessories, and some interior parts have been painted their respective colors (no pic sorry). The front seat is glued together. I have the interior bucket, dash, and steelies all cleaned and ready to paint. I still have to paint the engine itself once the transmission dries. Slow process here.

Hello all, I need your help. I have an AMT 49 Ford that I am building box stock. I am using the Flathead V8. On the instructions there are no exhaust manifolds, nor any sort of crossover pipe. They are not on the sprue anywhere either (I opened the plastic bags myself). The instructions show a single exhaust as well so there has to be some sort of crossover. The Cadillac engine (which I am not using) has the exhaust manifolds molded as part of the heads and it has dual exhaust. I am attaching a scan of the instructions showing the assembly of the Flathead. What do I do here? I am stuck. Help!!!!

Awesome!!!! Thank you.

I am new...but I cannot find anything the second time around. Sometimes I get lucky and remember someone's name to search with..but most of the time I do not. Guess I am also used to how easy it is in Vbulletin. Hope it gets easier as time goes on. Finding my own is no issue. I don't have many posts. Hahahahaha

Meijers is carrying models again.

Yes they were on both sides of the bicycle isle. Side note: I still have my old atari and it still works. hahahahahaha -
Count me in if there is a vote. It sure would save a lot of time. Computer power and speed are no issue for a lot of us. Those who have older computer...simply don't click View all.

Glad you said its from a modified truck and not stock. Those mini tubs were indeed inside the 3/4 ton long beds (taller) of the time. I forgot about those. I have a stock tailgate from one of them..that won't fit anything else. Looks the same...just about 1 3/4" too tall for my truck. It came on mine and I had to find another original tailgate to go on it.
-
Sweet build. The second model I did as a kid was the Opel GT. Mine is yellow and sort of burgandy.
-
i am not positive when the bed sides changed. They sold some "wrong bed" ones up through the mid 60s. Almost all were the stylesides after 56..but..some got the 'flareside" (chevy is step side) beds at the factory. They revived the flareside later on (think early 70s), but the bed sides were taller (no running boards) and wider. The same fenders sat higher on the beds until 79. Later bed with same fenders for comparison: Notice the bed rails are flat too?
-
Started in 53 ford...fenders continued through 79 with the same part number. Since they are sitting low on the bed...its an older one. Betting its from 53-56 kit. What does the tailgate look like? I have a 1:1 56 F-100 so I know a bit about them. Here is a pic of my 56 for reference:

Good grief! I have never seen that many models in one place in my life. -

The headquarters are in Bentonville, AR (not far from here). -
There was a gto funny car by amt\ertl...Not sure if that could be a basis of your build...or at least parts.
