  1. hello all, Newbie here when it comes to modeling. I have not done one since I was a kid. My first model as an adult came in today (49 ford). I am slowly collecting the basic supplies (and a few extras) to get going. I have been reading on the forum for a while now. I especially love this thread for work area inspiration (Work bench Saturdays): http://www.modelcars...showtopic=24630 Most of you (not all of course) seem to have a dedicated area to work and keep your supplies. All the pictures I see in there..seem to be in your homes. I am not home that much. Seems like I am always somewhere else when I have free time. Anyway, Does anyone have a "portable modeling kit" that they just grab and take with them on business trips or anything? Pictures would be very much appreciated. I was originally thinking tackle box..but.. I live in a smaller town. The only place to get such a thing locally is walmart. They only have a few smaller ones left at this time of the year. Not much inspiration there. I can order whatever i want online...but I really want to hear and see what works for you before I make that investment. Thank you, Brian
  2. I have this kit still. I bought the kit and then found my 1:1 56 F-100 that is all original. I forgot I had them kit stuck away in the closet until just now.
  3. Thank you. I found that site with the tutorials and have it bookmarked. I have spent countless hours reading the tutorials and the threads on here as well. I have to be low budget for a while. Start slow...see how it goes.
  4. I have been waiting for over a week for my first model to arrive. First one in almost 30 years. Its driving me nuts! I will be pleased with a "box stock" vehicle that is not a "glue bomb" (trying to learn the lingo they use here). I have been reading on here a lot to occupy my time and learn though.
  5. Thanks. I am surprised they shipped it out that fast. It said it was all in stock when I ordered..guess it was.
  6. Hmm...maybe! It says it shipped today. Jbwelda...how was yours shipped? It does not say who it was shipped with nor a tracking number. I will update when it gets in.
  7. Sweet deal. I love the old school pinstripe. I want them on my 1:1 '56 someday.
  8. Looks great. Are the pin strips decals? Where did you find those?
  9. I used the same link..it showed free shipping until i went to the checkout. Not happy about that. Oh well.
  10. I ordered from them today as well. It said it would show up as free shipping during checkout. Nope! $9.99 charge. We will see about shipping.
  11. So cute! There was a local guy here (worked at ranger boats) who gel coated his real car with the boat stuff. Talk about flake!!!!
  12. No clue at all. I just did a search on here and found a link to the mesh. Sorry.
  13. I am not sure if this is what you mean.. http://protechmodelparts.com/carpartscatalog.htm part number: PTMC 8
  14. Thank you so much. As of this morning, I have a model ordered. Problem solved.
  15. I just saw where some were swapping models on the forum. Im new around here. Thanks for the suggestion.
  16. Someone just finished the 1/12 Cobra in "under glass". http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=62754&hl=
  17. It does indeed. Two engines..and the 5.0 can be either carbed or injected. Found the instructions. http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-4228.pdf
  18. The speedwagon does. I cant find any pics online of the 5 window to confirm. I will keep looking guys. Thanks. Edit: the new 5 window says modern mustang v8. Does not say how modern..so you are probably right. LOL
  19. Thank you Robert. That one is out of production and none of the usual suppliers have it in stock anymore. I Just E-mailed a couple of places that carry older kits to see if they have one.
  20. I drove my 89 (2.9) for 16 years then my brother wanted it. He drove it for a few more years. It had well over 200,000 miles on it when the engine finally turned loose. While I did change the oil and do the proper maintenance on it..I wheeled it a lot. LOL Its on the back burner for a transplant now.
  21. Hello all, I hope I am in the right forum. Is there a way to buy just the 1/25 scale EFI 5.0 V8 ford engine without buying whole kits to get them? They were used in the trucks, crown victoria, grand marquee, mustang, and just about everything else. I have not been able to find just engines in my google searches. I found two current kits that have them a 1/24 scale models that have that engine..but no 1/25. Both the Monogram 1/24 '55 Ford F-100 Street Rod plastic model kit and the 1/24 Lowrider '92 mustang GT convertible have them. If all else fails...would the 1/24 scale mustang kit, be an ok donor even with the scale difference? Picture borrowed off the internet of what I am talking about. Thank you in advance, Brian
  22. Awesome job. I own a 1:1 56 F-100 (guess which is my favorite?). The front wheels sit 1" too far back in the stock form on these trucks. No clue why.
