  1. Lokking forward to seeing the end result, I love your work and I want to build one of these myself so I will be watching closely!
  2. hey!!! You been spyin on me?
  3. Thanks for all the compliments guys!
  4. so im to the point on my LNT 8000 build where im beginning to run air lines, and I was wondering if any of you guys have seen a tutorial on how to build your own air valves, such as relay or quick release valve for your braking system. i'm working on a relay valve now, but not real happy with the way its coming.
  5. im no expert, I haven't tried this myself yet, but I have talked to someone on this forum on multiple occasions about casting because they do it themselves. but you need to research using a pressure pot to cast resin.
  6. so I know this isn't specifically truck related, but I build trucks so its close enough. I want to venture into buying an airbrush and compressor, you know, the works. anyways I will most likely be buying from hobby lobby because it will be the best and cheapest source for me. my local hobby lobby carries paasche, iwata, and sparmax, so what I want to know is if any of you guys use any of these or have used them and what you think of them, etc....etc...
  7. yes sir, that's the one I saw!
  8. Yeah, I'm not doubting you for a minute Terry, it just didn't look thick enough to be from AITM, but whoever cast it probably did copy from AITM because they've been casting forever right? Anyways, love the subject matter and I cant wait to see what you come up with Arnd!
  9. Yeah, the one I saw could have been copied, but the hood wasn't all one piece and it had white metal inserts for the MACK on the front grill
  10. I don't know the manufacturer, but I saw a steel hood conversion for the ERTL DM600 on EBAY a couple weeks ago, but haven't seen one since
  11. Lookin good Terry! You can never go wrong with red and white!
  12. I have read many times where the back side of an exacto blade can be used to cut out panels and such, and some people said that it beveled the edges too much, but I just recently began experimenting, and I don't see where there's an issue. I can imagine it being an issue for the regular car guys I guess, being that their panel lines are a little smaller, or maybe not, anyways, i'm glad you shared this Dave, I don't think I have seen anyone cut the doors open on a c series and im excited to see how it turns out!
  13. I think HL is an awesome thing, and while I do feel a little guilty using the coupons, I only use them on the models themselves because the store has to make money to keep stocked, I rarely use the coupons for paint and other small supplies, so I think it evens out in the long run cuz I buy more little things than models.
  14. you have some great stuff on your site and I will be ordering some stuff soon, I usually build more towards the old school style that's the reason I was thinking of AITM, but I do want to order the bridgestone M722 drives for some other projects as well as the five hole super singles, those look great!
  15. it will take any glue as far as I know, because its air tight, and the cap has a rod made into it that goes back into the "needle" of the bottle so there's no clogging, assuming you don't leave the cap off! I use the extreme power CA thick, but I haven't tried the thin one yet.
  16. man, wish ours was that cheap to begin with!
  17. have you guys seen/used the fineline glue applicators? bought one today and Its awesome
  18. That's funny, i've seen that truck on Tim's site but its been a while. crazy thing is I'm planning on using the paystar bumper as well
  19. Thank the Lord for hobby lobby and 40% off coupons! just picked up the rereleased 359 for a little over 20 bucks!
  20. oh, ok, I have heard of those! thanks for the feedback
  21. So I'm working on my LNT 8000 and the more I build AMT trucks the more annoyed I get at the brake chambers. was this an actual design way back when or has AMT lost it?
  22. thanks for the response guys, I had pretty much settled on the spokes, but having sold some stuff on ebay, I have a little cash flow now and i'm really considering some of AITM's float wheel/tire combos, but i'm not sure yet. And Jesse, I've always wondered (and being a diesel mechanic i'm ashamed to ask even though I've never worked on a mixer) does the PTO shaft attach to the crank?
  23. I was thinking of this just the other day, I would love to get some pneumatic tires for my AC's
  24. So I'm retracting my previous statement when I said the detroit fit like a glove, what I meant to say is it fit like a square peg in a round hole. It wasn't really that bad, but the radiator really threw a wrench in the whole works. I knew you guys that suggested the longer hood were right, never doubted you for a minute, and I also know the likelihood of an LNT8000 with a mixer body on back is also a little farfetched but I think its gonna look good in the end. Anyways, I think I've made up my mind on the steer tires and wheels but I wouldn't mind a few opinions.
  25. has anyone noticed that the kenworth with the 3408 cat has dual air breathers while the peterbilt, having the same engine only has one? does anyone make a conversion for the peterbilt to have 2?
