  1. I've been wanting to post some of my recent acquisitions, but I haven't had time till now, but i've gotten these in the last month or so. I wanna thank Mr. Dave Chivers for the great trade where I got one of my grails, the movin on KW!
  2. I just love the SAR's, they are ugly as sin, but I love em!
  3. I think its the last release
  4. was the 2003 release of the autocar dump truck the only one that didn't contain the drop pod differentials?
  5. I'm diggin the canvas covered traler in that reo article!
  6. Very nice, that's thinking out of the box!
  7. just thought I'd add my two sense, I totally agree with Erik on execution and the fun part, I just wanted to say that india ink has endless uses from grease stains to bringing out creases in leather seats, I use the stuff on everything!
  8. No sir, it's the same trans behind the 534, but you can cut it up some and make it believable, I would also suggest the engine from the ln8000 because it's a diesel and you have tandem axles but that's just me. I really wish someone out there would cast a Clark 5 speed or some other medium duty trans. But aside all the technicalities, I really like where this build is going!
  9. Dave, I built mine as Sean said, left off the front drums and it looks ok. the part I hated most was the two piece cab, I know why it was produced that way, but still, its aggravating to say the least.
  10. just a small update, got some more plumbing, wiring, and a little interior work done. not sure about the accuracy of all the plumbing ( any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!), but it does the job.
  11. The reason I asked about the trans is I have several c series trucks but I don't like the automatic trans that comes with the kit, so I cut the pan off mine and turned it upside down then added a top plate, I know it isn't correct but it looks ok.
  12. I see you have a stick shift, so what about the trans?
  13. im no expert by any means on police sirens, lights and such, but I have seen a lot of 1/25 resin fire truck and police sirens and lights and the like on ebay and a lot of the stuff appears to be the older style stuff.
  14. The c600 rim is what I'm using for the drop axle on my mixer, but yours looks spot on!
  15. What wheel/tire combo did you use for the drop axle?
  16. Thanks for the response guys, a lot of helpful ideas here!
  17. Hey guys, i'm slowly getting into the whole scratch building world and I definitely love it, but i'm having a hard time finding a good way to organize all of my evergreen rod, tubing, angle, channel, and all that good stuff. right now, I have it all still in their respective bags hogging up the left side of my drawer and its to say the least irritating. are there any suggestions out there? and thanks in advance!
  18. Pay credit where credit is due, congrats!
  19. Thanks for the kudos guys, I'm new at the whole weathering bit, but I'm learning!
  20. Got this engine in a recent junkyard, and I have no clue what it is, i'm guessing its European, but it may go up for trade here, idk.
  21. Here's a few more update pics, just a little paint and weathering. decided against the stripes on the bumper (for now). Model contest today wont happen but the logger is the backup so its all good!
  22. Outer diameter is about 1/8" larger, give or take, I've never actually measured, but I will say that from what I've dealt with, the main lines from your compressor are about the same size as the main lines running to your relay valves and so forth, the lines get smaller for your signal air lines. Air suspension lines are fairly large as well. Thanks for the wiring tip James, I'll have to see if I can get some. What I really don't like about the wire I'm using is how it doesn't want to hold its shape, but I'll defineatley try some of the cat5 or 6 stuff, thanks again!
  23. Thanks a lot guys, I have used the solder and it works, I just don't have multiple sizes so I guess I need to stock up. I'm always looking in craft stores, just never really get around to the hardware stores, and as far as the cosmetics sections, blush brushes work great for weathering powders, I have found that out!
  24. I have been using telephone wire for all my air lines and hydraulic lines and such, but i'm not all that fond of it. maybe I have the wrong type, its not very flexible and doesn't want to hold its shape. I try and tuck the wires behind a cross member or whatever when I can, but when I cant I usually glue it, but that doesn't stick to the slick surface very well, the slightest bump and its all over, is there anything better out there?
