  1. So this is a first for me. I've never used weathering powders this extensively, I picked up a rather large amount of AIM weathering powders (don't think they're in business anymore?) from a local hobby shop, and got them for half price to beat all! I just wanted some feedback on the weathering, is it too much, too little? I'm going for the brand new truck who was recently put to work, recently means the early 70's but ya'll get the idea. anyways, all criticism welcome and thanks in advance for the feedback.
  2. Where did you get the decals for the cab?
  3. sorry, I was talking about the red autocar on another topic you have, great work so far on the Brockway as well. im dabbling in some casting as well, what silicone are you using, and how do you keep air out of the resin?
  4. yeah the mesh is exactly what I was looking for. I didn't even think of walthers, I've bought model train stuff before but that's been years ago. what do you mean by tool? love ur autocar winch truck by the way, I love all the old autocars.
  5. yeah, i'm actually putting the reo hood on the road boss, don't ask why cuz I don't even know, but its a challenge so i'll try it. what material do you use to make mud flaps, I've considered an inner tube, but I haven't tried it yet. also, do you have any recommendations od steel mesh, like you would use on a deck plate or grill maybe
  6. love this pic terry, I really like the air cleaner, i'll probably make one like it for mine. thanks again for the help
  7. no, like terry said, I will be using the diamond reo, I think. my first plan was a white road boss, but I changed my mind, aitm says you can use either the road boss, reo or western star, but I do know that the cabs sit slightly different from the reo to the road boss.
  8. thanks a lot, that really helped!
  9. so I bought an autocar hood conversion from AITM (awesome piece by the way) and it was advertised as a 1969 hood conversion. I have found only 1 image on the good ol interweb, but no real info on the model or anything. I would just like to know a model number and maybe years of production. any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance for the help guys!
  10. I was really up in the air about labeling a year on this one, mainly because of the headlights, but I had seen pics of a few that were 59's and had single headlights. I don't know, theres not a whole lot of definitive info out there. the real reason I chose a 59 is because a NC issue 59 plate looked good on the front, but thanks for the info!!!!
  11. So I'm listing this as on the bench because it's 98% done, I still need trailer air lines and an electrical hookup, as well as some other odds and ends. This is my first detailed and weathered model. I've built models before, but nothing other than box stock. Anyways, here it is.
  12. Hi, I don't post a lot, but I definitely am an avid onlooker, anyways, I just finished (well sort of) the 3208 swap in a c series. It was kind of irritating but well worth it. if I get a chance tomorrow I will post some pics in the under glass section. beware of the front bumper, I don't know if you've done the c series before or not, but I couldn't get the cab to tilt all the way forward for anything, anyways, looking good so far and best of luck!
  13. I have seen some remarkable work an such small details in some of these trucks, but what is still stumping me is how you guys are doing the weatherstripping around windows. I would love to know the trick to clean weather stripping. I have tried to mask off with tape (worked ok, but still not clean enough, do I need more patience?), I've also tried sharpie which is ok. Does anyone have any suggestion? while I have you truck guys on the line, what is everyone using for air lines and wiring and such, better question, what size wire? I have been using 22 gauge solid wire that is stripped of its insulation, but I've seen battery cable that still has insulation on some models, but the 22 gauge is way too big for that. sorry for the long post, just things that have been bugging me on my ford c-900. hope to post the finished product in a few weeks, thanks guys!!!!!
  14. Hi guys, I'm relatively new to truck modeling, well the customizing side of it anyhow. anyways, I was wondering if any of you guys have bought decals from modeltruckin.com, and if so, how was you're experience! I really appreciate any information you guys are willing to give. while I'm askin, have any of you ever dealt with sourkraut's truck, are they easy to deal with?
