guitarsam326 replied to guitarsam326's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Search imps Richmond, it should have a link there. It's going to be at Richmond speedway I believe. Sorry, don't search imps.org if this was read before the edit. -

guitarsam326 replied to Jonj238's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have one 32 Chrysler that keeps getting put on the back burner, I only do one truck at a time unless you count the thousands I build in my head! -

I don't get to go out on what you would call long hauls, nothing over 250 miles outside of our shop, but here lately I've been running through VA a little and I ran across this cool looking old store outside of Stuart, VA headed to Woolwine. Well my photos are too large apparently so all you get is the store for now, until I figure out this stupid phone! -

Thanks for the info Sean, I have seen trucks with the steer gear inside the frame before, but I was curious, and I agree with Terry, it's the little things and going the extra mile that give any project the wow factor and I'm sure this one will be no different! -

Im gonna play dumb on this one as I haven't done my research, but was that common place for the steering box to be inside the frame rail on the 351's? -
Thanks Jim, I would really appreciate it!

I just emailed him for the list and it's the same as Chuck's, but I wanted to know if anyone had any pics of the neway 505 pusher axle that he offers. Also, any info on his tires. I asked him for pics but he said he didn't have any right now, any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!

painting mixer drums
guitarsam326 replied to guitarsam326's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I tried the tamiya tape and it worked ok, but it wanted to bunch u on the inside of the curve so to speak, and I had a hard time getting a good seal on the outsides, but I may have had a bad roll, who knows! -

Thanks for the info guys! Jeff- I think you suggested that to me on my lnt 8000 mixer, and that's what I ended up doing, and it doesn't look bad at all! Terry- does the pin striping come off easily? I've contemplated using it but I just haven't tried it yet. -
painting mixer drums
guitarsam326 replied to guitarsam326's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've heard about using electrical tape, but I haven't tried it. -
after browsing through the all ready mix site at different paint combos for mixer drums for what seemed like days on end, I tried different ways of striping my mixer drum just to become disgusted. my mixer is under glass now but I have more in the works and I was wondering if ANYONE out there has a good way to mask off a drum for painting spirals in particular, thanks for the help in advance guys!

my next project will be one for my model club as we are doing a group build themed "from the year you were born". being this is probably the newest truck I have, I figured I would give it a shot. not too much planned for this one, just a mild heavy haul look. it will receive an 8v71 cuz there's no way I was gonna put that boat anchor of a motor included in the kit down is this beast. anyway, heres some beginning shots but I would like to take a little poll as I am torn between two wheel types for the front, so let me know what you think I should use!

The 50's Autocar hood would work too, as long as you have fenders. -
