  1. Very nice, the ten holes do look good!
  2. Kenny- thanks, I think everyone should try plumbing at least once! But that's just me. Gator- I like opening doors because most of us spend so much time trying to make our interiors look good, only to box them in when its all said and done. There's so much to see on the interior and what better way than crackin the doors open? Thanks for all the compliments guys!
  3. Very nice, the body color, wheel color and stripe color all go very well together! Nice conversion!
  4. Thanks Terry! I've tried to get as much detail without taking two years to build it! I guess I'm gonna try and scratch one, might as well give it a go right?
  5. you guessed right, I do work on them, but whats more, I also get to drive. In my opinion, I landedy dream job!
  6. Another small update, progress is slow as usual. I got the Detroit installed, probably the easiest engine swap I've done so far. the exhaust came out pretty good, I left it a single pipe exhaust because its just a work truck and i'm a plain jane kinda guy.....well that and it was waaaaaayyyy easier! im thinking about using AITM's five hole front floats but I haven't ordered any yet. Also scored some working chain binders from KFS out of a trade. got the fuel tanks painted, one will probably end up being a hydraulic tank....... by the way has anyone scratch built a trans mounted pto, or know a good source for one?
  7. If I'm not mistaken, I saw this engine on eBay, the seller didn't know the make, but they thought it was a Cummins, I wish I would have saved a pic of it now.
  8. Nice Terry, do I see a casting in the Cummins future?
  9. Walked into hobby lobby with the intent to buy a sprue cutter, glanced down at the bottom row where to my surprise sat the Mack DM. I wasn't expecting HL to get them till much later, but oh well I got it for 24 and change, let the buying begin!
  10. I'm right there with ya, I know there is some nostalgic value, but other than that, I don't think they're worth the ridiculous prices. Nice stash ya got there!
  11. Good looking WS Ken, are those the Paystar 5 holes on the drives?
  12. the molds for the A-Car should still be around right?
  13. Nice Brockway Terry, the paint job looks really good on it!
  14. very nice, I always thought these looked good as daycabs.
  15. Very nice Terry, this is how I want to backdate my lowboys, to the late 50's or early 60's style. This is gonna look great!
  16. its for sure different, but its perfect for the job!
  17. Not sure if its geographically unique, but its unique all the same as I've never seen another one. This trailer is one our company uses to move forklifts and bobcats along with accompanying equipment. This is a load I moved this morning,
  18. Nice start! I like the figures, I think you ought to give it a whirl!
  19. I'll have to look at the bottle when I get home, but I'm pretty sure its "odorless mineral spirits". Can't remember the brand name though.
  20. Thanks guys! I'm fairly comfortable with weathering he frame and wheels, but I'm still a little skittish on really weathering the cab, but I'm gonna give it a go on this one!
  21. I got a little time this past weekend to experiment with oil paint washes, I have seen it done but hadn't tried it till now.
  22. I haven't been around many trucks from the 80's but I'm building my paystar as a late 80's truck and I was wondering which the PTO would be more common, a shaft driven or trans mounted? Thanks for the help guys!
  23. Thanks Clayton, im really pleased at how the wiring came out compared to my other builds, and yeah, if a Detroit ain't leakin it cuz there ain't nothing in it! Thanks Terry, I like the Detroits simply for the sound (I know it doesn't make a hill of beans as far as plastic goes but whatever!), and although I haven't had the chance to work on one, I know they were a better engine than that piece of BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH corn binder that comes with the kit so why not swap right?
  24. finally got some color laid down, it was my first time using the airbrush on a large area laying color and I had some "dry" areas. those spots don't really matter because it will all get the filthy treatment followed by some dullcoat. also got some paint on the Detroit as well as some weathering.
