  1. got the fifth wheel mounted and weathered today, I had more and better pics, but the files are all too big, are we allowed only a certain amount of space on each topic?
  2. Man, I wanna go out west and just drive! Nowhere to go and nowhere to be, just drive and take it all in....... Maybe when I retire....if I'm not dead!
  3. No problem Dave! Give it a go,the only other thing I will suggest is make sure it is "watery" and start in or on a corner and let it run from there, alsoake sure you get a good "drop" on your brush to start out with, otherwise you can tell where you start and stop so to speak.
  4. Thanks for the kind words, I used the stock kit part for the rear most cross member, only I cut off the tabs from each side and moved it back to the very rear of the frame. Then I puttied up the holes left in the frame.
  5. Thanks Dave, you humble me! anytime I can help, I'm more than happy! I watched a guy on YouTube weathering some sci-fi models and I would recommend searching oil weathering on YouTube, but I'll give you the basics! I'm no expert by any means and this truck is my first try. All you do is get the color you want (I used black) and thin it down to a watery consistency. Dip your brush then touch it to wherever there is a 90 degree angle so to speak, such as around a bolt head or the corners of the frame rails. The solution should follow the line around the bolt or a bracket or whatever you choose. Once it dries, take a small sponge with some thinner to wipe away any excess, what you wipe away can be smeared around for a more greasy look. Feel free to ask if you need anything else!
  6. here's the latest, rolling chassis and some more weathering started. I also picked up a tool box from AITM on my last order. it will most likely go on the drivers side to provide a step up to the headache rack. also, the drop axle has been canned, maybe next time!
  7. Great start, I really like the 1:1 colors, they will look great!
  8. Jaw dropping, very impressive! Looking forward to the finished product!
  9. Dave, I got my fronts painted yesterday and I got a little more weathering done, just some minor detailing on the fronts and we'll have a rolling chassis! Hopefully I'll post some pics later today.
  10. HAAAA HAAAAA! something about those ugly trucks speak to me!!! I don't mind the ribbin at all, this world need a little more humor! Great looking combo JT!!!!
  11. Thanks Gator! I just don't wanna come across wrong with anyone because you can't read body language through words! Thanks again for the compliments guys, I got my front floats in from AITM, hopefully we will have a rolling chassis this weekend!
  12. Don't take me wrong (not that I think you are!), I'm not knocking anyone who doesn't open doors, there are plenty of great models out there that are completely box stock that are awesome!
  13. Nice! There's something about the T600's, there so ugly they look good!
  14. I didn't think about oil paint, but that would do the trick I bet, how well would it dry though? I guess I'll just try it.
  15. I hear ya Clay to, I've had those directions too! The barn in the very first pic is where the "road" ended and I had to back up around a tree, and up beside an old burnt up single wide trailer!
  16. On the same lines, this is what a GPS will do to you. 45 minutes out of the way only to wind up in a cow pasture waiting on a crazy old farmer to show up outa no where with a shotgun. You have to start with the bottom pic to get the idea.
  17. Here's a few from a couple weeks ago near the VA line down east.
  18. Very nice job Pavel, great detailing as always! The cab colors go very well with the truck also!
  19. Yeah, I'm gonna try some black and even blue, we've had every color in the rainbow here at our shop.
  20. The only problem I found is it will come off if you play with it too much, but on the other hand, if you mess up its easy to redo.
  21. Yep, rtv through a syringe! I tried using colored epoxy, and it looked better but was much more difficult to apply.
  22. Those would work, if that's what class 8 trucks used, but I'm not sure. Thanks for the help fellas!
