  1. That is sweet. I love the engine choice and the very realistic looking seat upholstery. You also nailed the patina on the exterior paint. Extremely nice build.
  2. I like to build drag race cars and no self respecting gasser would have wiper blades. Unfortunately many gasser candidate bodies have molded wiper arms and blades. I would like tips on removing the excess equipment and recreating the cowl grill (vent). I have successfully scraped the blades and arms off and attempted to re-scribe the grill with a panel scribe, but I am still not completely happy with the result. I would love to get pointers from others who have successfully done this. OR others who have successfully cut out the whole mess and replaced it with a photo etched cowl vent. Which brings me to another question does anyone have a lead on a fellow hobbyist who does photo etching? Thanks in advance for all suggestions and comments.
  3. Thanks Hakan. That is a great solution. I will order a grill right now. Your build looks great. Nice engine and compartment. Have you successfully made the cowl grill look good without the molded wiper blades? Thanks again.
  4. I love gassers have been working on a rendition of the Blairs Speed shop 55 Chevy. I am using Amt 2 door post kit. Currently I have run into two issues and would love advice. 1. I would like to use a photo etched grill. Unfortunately the only PE grill is for the Revell hard top. Does anyone have photo etching capabilities? Or have modified the hardtop PE grill to fit the smaller AMT kit? 2. No self respecting gasser would have windshield wipers. I have removed them carefully and tried to Recreate the cowl grill but am only marginally happy with that. Has anyone removed the wipers and replaced the cowl grill photo etch? Or been successful at reestablishing a grill sans wiper arms? Thanks in advance for all replies

  6. Extremely nice clean build
  7. name="ToyLvr" post="1022789" timestamp="1380941420"]Ed: FWIW, I have also been working on a '55 gasser project based off of the venerable AMT '55 "shoebox" kit. Another problem to watch out for, if you haven't already noticed, is that the chassis of the AMT has the exhaust system already molded in place - quite a bummer to fix. After making some test fits, I found that the nice plain chassis from either Monogram '55 convertible or '55 hardtop (both 1/25 scale) will fit the AMT with minor adjustments...
  8. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the feedback. I will show pictures as I progress. Again thanks.
  9. Thanks to all you chimmed in. The problem is the Monogram Badman is a hardtop and want to model the 1955 2 door sedan and that is only made by Amt. So the real question is how does one modify the front splash apron on the Amt kit (under the bumper) look better than a blob of plastic when the front bumper is not used. Again thanks in advance for any input.
  10. I want to replicate the Blair's speed shop 1955 2-door sedan gasser and I have 2 challenges I would like to get advice on. I want to leave off the front bumper. The nose and splash apron on the 1955 AMT sedan kit aren't even close to looking right. It looks like a block of plastic. On the other hand the nose on the Monogram kit looks fabulous. Has anyone grafted the nose from the Monogram kit to the Amt kit. The scales of are different. Amt at 1/25 Monogram at 1/24. I would love any input on how to correct this issue. Second challenge I would like to radius the rear wheel well as they did in the 60's which is not a problem but how can I get the rolled edge back? Evergreen strip and putty? Would love your input. Thanks in advance. Ed
  11. That is fantastic work!!! I had to look twice to make sure it wasn't real. What are the spoke wheels and tires from?
  12. Hello, I am looking for a chopped Austin A 40 body. Altered States shows one their web site. I am contacting them to see if it is still available. Does any one else know of one available? Thanks in advance
  13. Thanks to everyone the chimed in. I am a little confused, however, about the reference to the Revell 1955 Chevy kits. I would like a kit that I am a little confused because upon checking I do not see a current listing in the Revell catalog for a 1955 Chevy. I have the "Street Machine" 1955 Chevy which was at one time a Revell kit but is now labeled Monogram and it has the exhaust molded in. Anybody have a kit number for a tri 5 Chevy that does not have molded in exhaust? Thanks in advance
  14. Nice job on opening the doors and trunk. Look forward to seeing the progress.
  15. I want to build a 2 door post 1955 Chevy old school late 1960's gasser and need some advice. I bought the AMT 2 door post kit and for the body. It looks pretty good. I was slightly disappointed by the front large under bumper pan. I plan to leave the front bumper off and the lip on the pan is, in my option, way to thick and deep. I figure I can message it. The frame/pan will not work however because it has a muffler and exhaust molded in. I bought a Monogram 1955 hard top street machine hoping that frame would work, but it too had mufflers and exhaust molded in. That is that back ground. Here is the questions Is there a tri 5 Chevy kit that does not have mufflers and exhaust molded it? What kit has the best straight axle and springs Any ideas on the best way the make a working tilt nose? What kit has the best big block Chevy engine? Would like to build with old School pie crust slicks and Crager SS or Americans. Any source for those?. Thanks in advance for all and any input.
  16. Love the build! Love the topic! Have you seen the new Ramchargers book?
  17. Extremely nice. I love the figures. Can you expand on the figures? Did you sculpt them?
  18. That is awesome, and I really like the diorama setting.
  19. Nice build. Very realistic tires and wheels. Never stop building.
  20. Thanks for all the great comments. Glad you all like it. It was the first model I have built in 25 years. I learned a lot made some mistakes and did some stuff that turned out ok. This forum is a lot of fun.
  21. Just finished the midget. It is a nice kit but takes some patience. Enjoy
