  1. Love it. The color is dead right on for a 57.
  2. Thanks for the correction. I was 10 at the time and he was my favorite driver. I wish stock racing was still like those days.
  3. Very nice builds. Especially cool that you "printed" your wheels. 2014 was a good year.
  4. Oops my appoligy I now realize you were referring to the Southern 500. My comments on your build still stand.
  5. That is sweet. Didn't Tiny Lund win the 1963 Daytona, and sadly "fireball" lost his life in the 1964 Daytona. Love your tribute build.
  6. Ok I know this is supposed to be NASCAR but because there is no forum topic for short track I am posting here. I also know this is off topic but again no forum topic for connections. That said I am a modeler and love race cars. So I appoligize in advance, but I wanted to shout out to any of my fellow modelers who are going to the Dirt Car Nationals in Feburary at Volusia. I am driving from Michigan and would love to meet anyone else on this forum who might be attending. Thanks in advance Ed
  7. I absolutely love it! Very cool project. The wheels and tires are so cool, so cool in fact it is a bit of a shame to cover them with the fenders. That said I love the fenders too. What can you do! Did you turn the wheels and tires on a lathe?
  8. Thank to everyone who chimmed in. I love this forum and all the helpful folks in scale land. I have contacted Scale auto finishes and am going to try their paint. I will keep everyone posted and post a picture when it is completed. I do hope everyone won't be disappointed as it a slot car.
  9. Thanks Maxx. It would be fun to see your pictures. Thanks for the info on the comp Resins body. I was not aware that the museum had closed. Is it gone forever? If so I am really bummed.
  10. a Aaron if my memory serves me right that is who he raced. Boy those were the days. I would love it if the track was still open. Sunday Sunday, Sunday. I spent so many hours there. Thanks for posting
  11. I have been following your posts and love what you have done. I was wondering if you would consider selling a set of decals when you make them. I have a 1955 Chevy slot car I would love to name Mighty Mouse. Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi I am looking for the correct light silver blue metallic for the Ohio George Mustang Gasser. I have tried Testers silver blue, which is actually too green. I also tried duplia color which is too dark. Has any one build the MPC kit and found the right color? I was lucky enough to see the car in 1969 at US 30 dragstrip and remember the color and am just to anal to accept anything that doesn't look close. Thanks in advance.
  13. I need some help. I a building my fist resin kit and I am stumped when it comes to the windshield. I am building a Vega panel and need tips on how to first get the curvature and then what type of glue to use. I have canopy glue (which is similiar to Elmers) but it doesn't have the strength to hold the curvature. Thanks in advance.
  14. Barnes and Noble does carry Rodders Journal or you could always find it on Eveil Bay
  15. Thanks Steve and Glenn, the information and the leads. I may have to make one. Maybe vacuum form it.
  16. Recently I saw a built 1932 Ford Roadster that was a center steer drag car. It had a nice tonneau cover over the drivers area except for where the driver would sit. When I asked my buddies at my local model club. They said it is a AMT kit and that the parts for this build are included in the kit. Sooo here is the question to all of you are much more knowledgable than I am. Which version(s) of the AMT 1932 Ford roadster kit has the parts needed to build the center steer drag race version? Hopefully it will be a verily recent kit. Don't want to break the bank. Thank you in advance.
  17. Nice attention to detail. I like where you are going with this build.
  18. Great start Ray I too am working the same kit. I am building the Doug's headers Chevy 2 Much with I saw race at Us 30 drag strip In the day. I started with the rat packer kit but quickly realized the 1:1 car I wanted to build had some inconsistencies with the kit. First the body was wrong it is a hard top whereas the actual car was a two door post car. Additionally the frame on the full sized car was a square tube chassis and the kit is round tube. Soo I am making these changes. The engine in the kit is actually a big block even though I had my doubts. But someone on this forum was kind enough to explain that It is a big block due to the exhaust port spacing. I had hoped the valve covers would have been larger. Love the seat you are using Tell me what is in the pro tech package? Will look forward to following your build.
  19. I am impressed! You are doing a fabulous job with all the detail upgrades. It makes be want to build the Manx I have on the shelf in the basement.
  20. Thanks Bill, Harry, Casey, Roger, Mike, and Mike, I sincerely appreciate all your responses and ideas! I will beginning trying many of your suggestions and post the results in the on the bench forum. Ed
