  1. I did a search on Amazon like Dr. Cranky suggested and no results were found. I also did a search on Evilbay and no results as well. Is this stuff still manufactured or has it been discontinued ? It seems pretty sparse and hard to get a hold of.
  2. Does anyone have any online referrals they can give us on where to buy Dupont Clear Coat A7480s that Dr. Cranky recomends using as a clear coat ? Thanks in advance for any places.
  3. I don't know if it will react any different with paint or not but when I strip chrome wheels, I use regular old bleach and it strips chrome in no time at all.
  4. I doubt Directv will ever because from my dealings with Directv they are all about themselves and not in it for their customers. If it weren't for the fact Ive been a Directv customer for years now I would switch to Dish because Ive been frustrated with Directv for years now. I did however just recently move and for the moving pack they gave me the NFL Sunday Ticket for free which totally amazed me.
  5. LOL. Talk about disappointment lol. So since you missed it your last trip, sounds to me like you should start checking the BJA schedule and next time they are in Vegas you should schedule to attend which would give you another trip or vacation to Vegas ha ha.
  6. Awesome. I have several friends that are current employees of a Nascar team. A friend Danny Jones that used to race Sprint Cars in Central PA works in the Fabrication shop for Hendrick Motorsports in the #48 stables. He builds rear ends currently. Another friend that I've lost touch with since he moved to North Carolina Sean Kerlin from Marysville, PA the last I spoke with him was working as an Interior Man for Hendrick Motorsports as well but heard he is now with the Aarons team. Nascar is a all so famous series. I myself racing wise am more of a F1, IRL fan but am still an avid Nascar fan as well.
  7. If I can ask, how did you get the gauges to look so real ? Are they after market or photo etch products, did you scratch build them ? If you scratch built them could you please let me know the products you used to build the dash to entirety ? I envy your work that's superior. Job well done Sir!!!!
  8. After doing some extensive research on Nascar Scale model kits, it appears that one could build entirely all Nascar kits and have enough options available to build these kits the rest of his life. The amount of different kits produced by the different manufactures on each driver just goes on and on forever. I counted around 17 different kits that are available for just Dale Earnhardt himself on ebay. Sitting here wondering just how many different Nascar kits exist in scale model building ha ha.
  9. If memory serves me correctly, I believe a kid that I used to race karts against is now racing these Whelen Modifieds. His name is Ronnie Silk and used to live in CT. Where I'm from most people consider modifieds Dox Boxes as I live in the Sprint car racing mecca of the world lol. Central Pennsylvania. I myself am personally a fan of the Modifieds as they are a very competitive series of auto racing and always have a ton of cars. I'm a big fan of Brett Hearn
  10. No confusion Mate!!!! That's why were all here to learn from one another. I've noticed that on other kits, it may say 1987 but that could be the year the kit was produced but the driver could have ran the car back in 1985. That's happened several times in the past.
  11. Same way with espn3.com . You have to have a participating cellular or cable provider to be able to access it. Thank god my parents have Comcast as their tv provider lol. I just snag my mothers sign on and password to be able to view espn3.com I'm a big fan of the Barret Jackson Auto Auctions on SPEED TV. Don't care if they're reruns or not lol.
  12. I just got a older Kit of Richard Petty of a All Petty Blue car from back in like the early days of his career, don't know the exact date of the car without going to get the kit but I would LOVE to find an affordable kit of the Super bird (think that's what its called ) with the big wing in the back of Petty. I'm brand new to scale model building and would like to brand out into Aircraft and Armor as well but the only kit I've completed to this point is the McDonalds #94 Bill Elliot kit. I bought a nice lot of Nascar models off Evilbay. After searching the Nascar kits available, I'm really gaining a huge interest in building nothing but those. Their is so many Nascar kits available its unreal. So as of now I'm going to work on finishing my Nascar kits with who knows what will happen when that time comes lol. I may never get to Aircraft and Armor kits ha ha.
  13. Tim Richmond, great guy. I used to race go karts against Tim's brother Tom at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia. Thanks for the info. Greatly appreciate your help.
  14. Thank You!!!! I didnt look at every photo lol Its a listing on evilbay that Im watching. Was just curious. Thanks for the clarification.
  15. Can someone please clarify what year this kit was made for me ?
  16. When you decant paint from a Aerosol can regardless weather its automotive paint, or a paint specifically made for scale model building. Do you need to thin a paint that is decanted from a Aerosol can ? I'm a big fan of Krylon Automotive paint. Would I need to thin if I decant Krylon ?
  17. I wish I could get the Velocity channel. They carry a lot if not most of the Star Mazda Road to Indy races. One of my great friends Sage Karam from Nazareth races in the Star Mazda series in the #88 Comfort Revolution Andretti Autosport car. Would be awesome to get to see his races live which you can do on Velocity but I cant get access to that Channel.
  18. Can someone please tell me if their is a way to find out what all aftermarket special decals or photo etch parts are available for any models to make the model look more realistic ? Depending on what type of decals or products are available in these two categories could determine what kits I build in the future. Being so new to this hobby I have no clue about this kind of stuff. Maybe photo etch or special graphical decals is something I shouldn't worry about being I'm so new to the hobby ????? I just like to have my models looking as realistic to real life as I possibly can. Thanks in advance for any info one can give me in regards to finding out what all types of these products exist.
  19. Dr. Cranky, it appears that one could make one of these very easily. Why couldn't one just use a ruler to obtain the same thing ? Keeping costs down for me is a huge deal so being for real, would a ruler do the same procedure ? Or the gentleman with the double square on a ruler ? I really like that idea and the squares arn't really that much at per say Harbor Freight. The amount of valuable information and knowledge that I'm receiving in my two short weeks from you guys is just unreal. I'm having a hard time remembering it all to the point I'm starting to take notes in a note book I bought specifically for model building lol.
  20. lol Thanks Old Coyote. Right now Nascar kits are all I have in the stash other then a couple of Indy and Sprint Cars. I would eventually like to get into some Aircraft, Tanks and even some Miniatures. This scale model building is very addicting. I believe I'm going to have to go through a week or so period of not building as I dropped and damaged my freekin Airbrush already bending the needle tip. I gave my current kit a base coat today and so far it appears to be fine, so hoping it will work ok until the replacement parts get here. Being on a fixed income and SSDI really stinks because to buy anything new I have to wait until the first of the month during payday lol. I went from making 68K a year to 15K because of the back surgeries and them putting me on Disability. So I use building scale models as a way to occupy my time.
  21. Thank You all for your advice and methods. I have a order of Micro Mesh ordered waiting to receive .
  22. Will definitely have to double check with the instructions for sure.
  23. Question in regards to this kit. With the color of the styrene being Black and a lot of the parts including chassis and body calling for Black paint, would it really pay for me to waist the black paint to paint whats already Black ? Or after I primer it will the Black be a totally different Black then it already is naturally ? Thanks in advance for any advice.
  24. My very first kit completion. Have alot of areas I need to improve on but Im content with this being my first ever. Airbrushing needs a bit of work and a few of the decals are wrinkled. Excited though for the next build which will be a 1991 Davey Allison. Please give any advice on what I can do to make the next one better. I know the photos are poor quality but thats what I get with a cellular phone camera
