  1. hey bobss396, doesn't the water in the soda bottles cause a humidity problem with the freash paint. or am i not understanding how it's done. it must work or you wouldn't be doing it. unless your just trying to set us up to make us mess up our models. say it isn't so bob!!
  2. OPEN A FOTKI OR PHOTOBUCKET ACCOUNT AND JUST COPY AND PASTE THE JPG LINE.
  3. thanks guys for the input. you know i was looking at them trying to figure out how to build a 1-1 of them, what a loon i am!!
  4. good looking body. also try scale racing lobby website. all kinds of racing stuff there.
  5. i am a t bucket fan and there is this site called buckethead bash put on by spirit industries. i am not an artist but you guys who are should see these pictures. google buckethead bash go to the gallery and click on the spacerods spacerods post. i don't even begin to know how they are done. maybe you all will.
  6. i went to my new super center and they removed just about everything related to models and just put a few models on the end of the row. i don't think they will be stocking them anymore. the ones they have will be clearanced out before long.
  7. thanks for the replies. i should have been a little more elaborate about what i wanted it for. i am building a model of my 1-1 flathead powered '32 austin-bantam altered drag car. i built it with a corvair steering box and it is in plain site so i need to have one on it. i tried the hot rod site but the steering box site was under contruction and wouldn't come up. i know what they look like anyway, as i have 3 of them for other builds. i do believe i will have to scratch build it. thanks again for the replies.
  8. does anyone know were i can get a corvair steering box in 1/25 scale? thanks
  9. just 2 post back on this thread is the car.
  10. i have bought both the 4 oz and the 22 oz guns. the 22 oz works great for 1-1 and the 4 oz will work for models.
  11. i like it!! some people don't, i know, but i do. these kind of show rods were not very practical but they were different. i have several of the tom daniels designed models and i like them all. yours is too cool. nice build.
  12. that is one sweet ride. are you sure thats not a photoshop picture. it looks to good. hahahahah
  13. thank you olle f. that is exactly what i needed.
  14. i am in the process of building a frame of my 1-1 car and it is made of 2x3 tubing. doing the math seems the size is .080x.120. is this correct? my math is not all that good anymore since i retired. i believe you divide the 2x3 by 25. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.
  15. i have seen several post about the type of glues used to build models, so i went and bought some. ambroid proweld, plastruct plastic weld and tenax-7r. my problem is, i can't get it to hold. i find it is hard to hold the model to wait for it to stick strong enough also. the same for super glue. even the capillary action won't work. it just doesn't hold. i scrape off the plating and such but it won't hold. what is the secret to this stuff? i find the only thing that works for me is testors cement and 5 min epoxy. thanks in advance.
  16. is a category or article in the mag of any interest to anybody to have a picture of there model displayed with there 1-1 of same car?
  17. strangely, i hate you and envy you at the same time! hahahahahah what a great thing to do!!
  18. hi steve. i used to see those jacked up cars in my teens too. i have built quite a few of them as 1-1 and a few as models. i never built them as high as that '55 though. a strange thing about people in that time and i guess now too, they want to build what was on the strip but some of the stuff is way overboard. in actuality, it is not that much different than a 4 wheel drive jeep or truck or suv. as we all know they roll over too. my "j" drives quite well with no adverse lean and i have drove it on off ramps quite abit over the posted limit. it has a straight axle but i have it set up low so it handles ok. it will spank you if you don't pay attention though. for shear outragesness that '55 is crazy. i haven't built a model of my car yet but i use it to tow my altered to the races and am in the process of getting all the parts to build them both. if you don't mind i'll show you what that looks like with another picture. let me know if you want it deleted.
  19. i don't mean to hijack this post but this is my everyday car. love the models. gary atkinson
  20. yea thats the guy. i was about 13 at the time and i was at a gas station in westminster in orang county around '61 and i looked across this field about a couple acres at this car in the driveway. i could tell it was chopped but that was all. so i went over to it and it turned out to be "big al". just seating there in the driveway. this was about 6:00 am so there was nobody around to ask about it so i just left. i seen it run at lions drag strip a few times. it wasn't all that fast off the line but it got moving real fast pretty quick. well, i don't want this to turn into a hijacking so i will shut up now.
  21. bill, now that would be an interesting situation. i can't see why we as modelers can come up with workable marketing plans and the companies can't. maybe it wouldn't work but one would think they would at least try something. it could be we don't know all the problems they have but if they don't start acting like they want to prosper they are gonig to go the way alot of companies that wouldn't adapt to changing times went. thanks for the replies.
  22. i bought the hugh tucker '28 chevy aa/sr drag car from ed fluck's drag city casting recently and you can't say anything bad about him or his business as far as i am concerned. the product was shipped fast, the emails were always answered and the product was great. i will absolutely buy from him again.
  23. i don't know if you know or not but there was a guy in hawaii that had one of these and used it for a daily driver and bracket racer. i can't think of his name but he built the '32 ford sedan "Big Al" back in the '60's that had an allison inside and his head stuck out of the rear of the chopped roof. i used to have quite a few of these and always wanted to build one with a v6 in the middle but never did. i guess now i could build a model of one though. great looking build by the way.
  24. nice job. i used to live down the street from a shop that had this in there show room. i don't remember if it was the owner of it or just doing work on it. but it was there a long time. great build. i love this drag site. i think it is the only one where you can really let your ideas bloom.
  25. thanks mark. the kit is 13.00 with the shipping so it is pretty cheap that is why i was curious.
