  1. hi guys. i just wanted to say that the '53 ford was my first car when i was 15. i recently bought the model to build a replica of it. i am glad it builds well. the 1-1 car went from a stocker to a blown olds powered straight axle, engine setback, olds rearend, 11.00-16 slicks and full race car. i have thought about finding another and building it the same way again.
  2. well thanks for all the info. mine is the sedan but i must have opened the doors when i built it. i am just getting started on building models again so i know most of you know more about this than i do. thanks again.
  3. hi peter. that is one beautiful olds. i had a 1-1 back in '68. it had a flathead 6 cylinder in it. it was also black with a black interior. just in case you want to build another one, there is a comapny called r & r resin that makes quite a few of the body styles of the olds. again excellent workmanship
  4. thanks for reply but i built this kit back around '76 and i didn't cut them open. i was building kits with this girl freinds kid. i just wanted to get him interested in models and i don't think i would have shown him something as complex as that. he was only 10 or so. i wish i had a camera to show you. oh well,
  5. hi guys. you said this kit doesn't have opening doors and none of the other issues did either but i have a kit from back in the mid 70's that did. i don't remember who made it but it looks just like this one. any thoughts?
  6. hi guys. i was at my local pecker boys store and they don't carry purple power in gallon cans anymore. something to do with epa or some other sort of horses--t. i swear the land of fruit and nuts is getting just to stupid. the stuff is biodegradeable for crying out load. they also don't carry brake fluid or wd40 in gallon cans either. is this happening in your area?
  7. well, i found another color of this stuff. orange. i painted a front fender to my henry j using the sliver basecoat color and it turned out to look like candy tangerine with a metallic glitter effect under the orange. i like the way this stuff looks. the nice thing is, it is a big can and cost what the little cans of model paint cost. i also finally learned how to upload pic's so when i get a camera that will take clear close ups of small things i will post some pic's of painted parts.
  8. well, i contacted krylon and they said it is an acrylic vt alkyd resin based product. whatever that all is! some sort of plastic i guess. they said it was possible to paint models if light coats are applied but it is really for metal. i am going to paint something else bigger, like a whole body and see how it comes out. i also told them to put it in quart cans too. later gary
  9. that is one cool ride!! i am building a 1.1 t bucket right now and i was going to do it in a metalflake green with pearl white scallops just like yours. i just hope it looks as good.
  10. i looked all over the can but it doesn't say what it is. maybe i'll look at www.krylon.com and see. it does say to much exposer will cause brain damage. mmm. as far as the clear goes, i dropped the part and scratched it up real good so i will have to obviously repaint it. it does say on the can to paint over metal or chrome and does not say anything about plastic other than topcoat in 1 hr or 5 days to prevent lift. as i said, it did come out nice even with a little spit from the nozzle that flowed out and disappeared. i wont be able to get back to it for a while as i have a large list of life to have to deal with right now. oh another thing, i put it in castrol purple power and the paint came right off a day later.
  11. well i painted a austin drag car 1 piece front end and it turned out great. it looks like a candy red. it flowed out pretty good to. it doesn't have as much glitter to it though. probably because of size. my real concern was if it would peel or lift. i haven't cleared it yet and that might get wierd but it is all krylon anyway. if i had a camera and i could figure out how to, i would post a picture. i am very computer illiterate.
  12. hello out there. my friend just painted his 1.1 t-bucket gas tank with this rattle can paint he got from w-m. it is called x-metal. it comes in red, blue, green, and purple. it also has a sliver basecoat too. it is called anodize but it looks like a metallic or a fine metalflake. i am going to paint a front fender to see how it works but i was wondering if anybody has used it on a model yet.
