  1. I'm lucky to have a well-stocked LHS just a few miles away, so I don't have to worry too much about running out of supplies.

A new "Michael's" just opened in my area, too, and it's located even closer than the LHS. Not much kit selection, but convenient for other basic supplies.

Regarding Tom's comments about having more stuff than we can build in a lifetime (applies to me, too, especially under my current circumstances), for all of us geezers who are hoarding kits and "supplies", do you have an "exit plan" for them when the times comes that you'll no longer need them? I received some much-needed supplies and tools (or at least much-desired) a while back after an elderly member of my local modeling club passed away. (R.I.P., Sarge) He had made sure that his wife understood what to do with his stash when his time came. She placed it in the hands of one of our trusted members, who in turn brought the lot to a club meeting. Everybody got a chance to grab some items. I wonder how many times that the family of a modeler/collector has just thrown out his "old junk". You can't take it with you (especially you 1/8 scale builders).....

You really make a point there, even though I am only 25 It really does make you think. I think it was very nice and generous for "Sarge" to have given away his stash to people who really would have enjoyed it. Im sure it would have brought him joy and happiness instead of just having them sit, collect dust or even worse get thrown away like many of my models did when I moved out of the house. It amazes me how many non modeler people just throw models out, or categorize it as "junk", and just throw stuff out like they are toys. I think I would have done the same as sarge and pass my models on to friends of the hobby and family members as well if they portrayed an interest in model building.

  2. Cool :) , my cousin used to own a 63 olds holiday super 88. It was purple with flakes and purple velvet low rider interior, dual exhaust , chrome Dayton's. those were good times, i used to cruise with him listening to oldies, and some rap like kid frost or lil rob lol. He used to be in a lowrider club, and i came across many impalas and cutlass lowrider owners. One guy had a 49 chevrolet fleet line or "bomba" as some may call it, it was candy apple red with gold Dayton's, that thing was beautiful man , but I'm sure it's worth at least $40,000 -$50,000. That is one of my dream cars along with the 59 impala.

  3. They dont have many US cars as for kits, these are the one i could think of now. But they have lot of cool US cars in RC.

Older kits like the Ferrari Testarossa or F40 you can get dirt cheap on Ebay these days. The most expensive seem to be the Ford Sierra RS500 and Escort Cosworth kits. It`s a shame these never was made as street versions. But i guess Tamyia focus mostly on motorsport and RC. Yeah, and there are lot`s of US "iron" in the WW2 1:35 scale.

    Quality is top notch imo.

Those look like some nice models. specially the jeep wrangler

Here's a sample of one of Tamiyas kits, the '72 GT-R

nice model ,like the detail. ver convincing

  4. Yea but tamiya makes a lot of Asian vehicles , wish they made muscle cars lol, but I kno that won't ever happen. There are a few modern cars I like I guess, but I don't like how they end up looking like toys more than a nice looking realsticr muscle car, mayb e that's just me. And I can always get a replica of those tamiya models in 1:18 scale die cast . But I do like the subarus, supras, skylines they have. I will be making a purchase and getting the Nissan skyline from the early 90s they have

  5. I'm with Casey,Tamiya and the other Japanese companies are some of,if not the best out there quality wise. I disagree on some of the prices of their kits though, especially the curbsides. Today I was looking at the new Toyota 86 kit and it's $40-50. No thanks. I have a database saved on my pc that shows a few of Tamiya's kits and designates which are curbside, and which are not. Maybe it will help you choose what you want in the future? It has certainly helped me with a few purchases.

Yea they are pretty pricey, I don't wanna buy one thats $40 dollars with no engine lol, that would probably make me mad lol, A database would be nice to have to help me make a more informed purchase. I wonder if they are cheaper in their place of origin like Japan or other countries.

  6. I was just wondering if there is anyone else out there weird like me. I often run short on supplies like paint or basic stuff lol because I find myself buying too many models for extremely good prices. They often are very rare, out of production older models. I unfortunately don't get too build many, and postpone until I have money dedicated just for supplies, but once again always see a good deal. looks like Im going to have a huge collection soon, and collect them more than build em' lol. Kinda sucks cause I really enjoy building as well, but I cant stop the bug... just one more kit... lol is what I always tell myself. Do any of you guys have the same problem? It just feels euphoric stepping into your closet or hobby room and seeing a whole collection of models, in which you might have always wanted in the past. I dont regret buying any model, besides the atm nascars I used for practice when I got back to the hobby.

  7. Nice, i like clean lowrider ,man . U did a excellent job, i build all my lowriders clean not too much on em like you. Too much on em , and they start too loose style and class lol.

  8. This is a amt kit right? Im always afraid of buying more modern era kits because some of them are not depicted very well and look more like toys than a real one , But this is a excellent car, well built , and very realistic looking. Now im not so afraid of buying more modern muscle .

  9. interesting take on this model. I had a thunderbolt model, I never really liked the styling, but you made it look nice. Who would ever think of making a lowrider out of this?lol. ( I almost didn't click on this thread either lol) glad i did
