  1. I am building the Kellogg NASCAR, right now I just washed the parts tree with soap blow dried, then primed. Once parts were primered, I sanded off injection marks on the parts and body. The fenders have been thinned down a bit, the front has been extended outward a bit. I still have more sanding and primer to do. Hey at least this kit is not as bad as the 98 NASCAR Taurus, that car has tons of flash and injection marks, horrible but builds out nice. I got many NASCAR s I'm kinda using as practice since I only paid anywhere from 7 to 10 bucks for each one. I still have respect and appreciate NASCAR and its beautiful body styles of the 60s 70s 80s 90s up to early 2000s just want to practice on em :).

  3. oh wow, you guys are amazing, I would have never known. Very interesting history :) I want to build one version of it in particular I remember which was red just like the one in this picture. I have some revell Mustang Saleen speedster rims that would probably look really close to these rims. I really don't like the lowrider rims in the 92 kit neither the lowrider decals. I remember when it was popular to have the lowrider rims sticking out all crazy like shown in the revell box art, for some reason that style always made any car like that resemble a turtle to me lol jk, funny looking. This body is still considered foxbody type right? or was it just the late 70's early 80s versions that were referred that way?.

  4. I am currently working on my second Nascar build from a 8 year break ( the last one I did was when I was 16, and it didn't turn out so great). I am actually ok with the results of this one. I still have much to learn, need to get better with the decals, and the yellow circle around the rim is a little out of scale, I thought I could get it right with a toothpick, but I was wrong. I read on a thread that it is much easier if you scrape some of the rim, once its been painted gloss black until you reach the white plastic, then color in with a marker.

  5. I currently just applied future to a model after paint and came it out looking very nice annd shiny. I would like to know if I apply wax and polish afterwards. Before I wax I need to sand with 4000, 6,000, and 8,000 polishing grit? how does that work? lol im confused, but i would like extra shine on my vehicles.

  6. Thank you : ). I still plan on bare foiling the trim onn the chevelle, and painting it of course : ), but Man its gotten 2 paint jobs already, and stripped off with brake fluid due to fisheyes, paint running, and looking messy. both of the paint jobs have been on a compressor and airbrush ( first timer). I hope to get it right the 3rd time lol. It sure is a learning experience, not like the traditional spray cans. I hope to get good before I build some of these in My stash' below : ), maybe ill practice on the NASCARS, except the #3 lumina and the MC AERO.

  7. Hi, my names Erik. This is the first time I post a build here on model cars mag, I have been building model cars since I was 11 yrs old. I am 24 now, and find myself the freetime to get back into building again. Ive glue bombed many cars when I was younger lol, man I wish I still had them, I would strip them off the paint and rebuilt them, but unfortunately my mother either gave em away or threw em out lol.. It is my first time wiring engines, and scratchbuilding rollcages as you can see on the chevelle. I have a lot to learn, and will ultimately like to build as good as many of you guys out here. The chevelle came from Revell's donks editions, dont care too much for the lifted suspension and big rims.

I also added the 64 chevy impala, old model kit issued in the early 2000s that I was able to salvage ; ) . The car is prepainted. I took out some of the decals that didn't look right on it, I had gold daytons on the car initially, but got lost. I ended up adding the rim and tire set from a lowrider riviera kit, that was also around during my childhood, I also Painted a few things that were missing detail. The car was built years back, only thing changed recently were the rims, I think it looks much more clean now, somewhat of a early 70s lowrider and muscle car in a way too me.

  8. Hi i recently bought a spray gun and compressor, I have a dual action and single action gun for painting. Ive buillt model cars since 8yrs old, but not show quality, I am now trying to go back into this hobby and build somewhat decent cars. I have been doing a lot of studying, reading articles, etc. However I took a shot at spraypainting yesterday, and I completely ruined the interior of a 1970 chevelle, there was paint splattered everywhere, horrible. My question is how do I thin testors enamel and acrylic paints for use on a spraygun? and what psi should I paint at ? I am completely lost, can you guys please help me understandwhat 2parts paint 1 part thinner, and all those other crazy terms mean? I am completely new to airbrush painting. I will now be stripping the paint of the chevelle interior, and try again.

  9. Hi, i currently bought some old nascar kits, I am looking for some reference pictures of the real cars or models (90's amt, monogram T BIRDS, OLDS, LUMINA AND MONTE CARLO to further enhance my models in detail. It is very hard to obtain ref pics online.I would primarily like to see were the wiring goes. I am a huge fan of the 90's nascar race cars, and I like their styling.
