Stretched Lonestar

LOL !!!!! Sorry, Man....Didn't catch this until you had already painted it..... It's not as bad as it sounds.....The model will still look good, regardless....Here's the thread of my first attempt, where I didn't cut it off.....It's not so bad, really.... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=83369 -
That's biggest part of this kit's charm.... It just looks good....So good, that once you get it together, you either really don't care that it's a curbside as much , or you go into a fit of rage that they didn't put an engine in it....... We're paying pert near $70 for a curbside, for crying out loud.... And I know what you mean.....I have a red Volvo that I just took down off the shelf that would be awesome with Knight Trucking decals and a Smoothie.....We have a Knight dispatch in Katy....Right up the road a bit from me.....Those are some pretty nice trucks....One day I'll stop and get some shots of the place.....

You've got a decent start going, here.....Looking pretty good..... I'm going to have to agree with Terry on the fuel tanks, though Bud....The cab won't fit with them in that position....And Gator has a pretty good suggestion, as well....You may be a little heavy on the paint in places......Otherwise, you coming along, nicely..... Now, you keep hammering away at this, though......I want to see how you progress.....Thanks for posting what you have, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask us....We're here to help..... Looking good, Kid....Looking good.... Love to see younger modelers get on board.....

Ah, you're going for broke on this one.....I thought they would be a little busy, but they don't look half bad.....I can see this bad boy is gonna look NICE.... I think Moebius is going to boost Italeri sales of this truck just because of that smooth side trailer....I was really surprised at how good it looked behind mine.....

Oh, yeah....That lip at the front of the cab just before the windshield in front of the wipers has to be cut clean off for the hood to fit properly....Everybody's had the same issue with that.....I missed it completely on my first Lonestar....It can be cut any time before you fit it to the chassis without destroying a lot of stuff.... Anyway....Love what you have, so far.....The light is a great idea....I just made my roofs removable to be able to show off that great interior, but I may just try a light, next time....Great work.... -
Hey, thanks Greg for the heads up on the instructions....Any idea where I might find the corrections, or is there just something I need to watch out for?? And, oh yes....This thing WILL be Orange....I just have to figure out, exactly, what will be orange and what will be Silver Foil Metallic....The pictures of you guy's builds are quite helpful with coming up with a scheme....Thanks for the ideas.....

Not sure what's going on, but Megahobby has them set up for preorder, but Tower Hobbies has them discontinued....Oh well...I guess Megahobby wins out, this time.... Amen, Brother.... -
I've got this Simba that I got from one of our great forum members a while back, and someone had mentioned how the tires might disintegrate while on the shelf....That got me to thinking....I've got to do one of two things.....Unload it, or Build it.....I'm going for the latter....Does me no good in the box, anyway....I figure some Armor All will take care of that..... Guess what color it's going to be..... And I'm going to bling it out as if it were at the firehouse down the street....

KJ, Volvo looks great.....Of course, I don't think I've ever seen one that looked bad, but the decals really set that one off..... Clayton, you've got a great start.....I've always assembled the complete cab (along with the hood) and then painted....Reason being, is one thing I forgot to mention....It can be difficult to get the cab, hood and side skirts to match up.....On my recent build, I forgot to do this.....Resulting in quite an ordeal getting it all to look right....But it isn't like you won't be able to do it without any problems.....I did, eventually, get it all right....I just know it would have been easier, if I had assembled it all, first.....But, on the flip side....If you paint, THEN assemble, the interior will be easier to get together.....So.....It may be a win win..... And, the only thing I would do with connecting the trailer to the Volvo, is add a spacer to lift the 5th wheel about 2mm to raise the trailer height a bit to make it look more in scale behind it.....AND....Grab some Italeri rims and tires for it.....I think they'll fit with minimal mods....Otherwise, the width of the trailer is, surprisingly, pretty good.....I guess it would scale out to be a 96", as opposed to a 102"..... The stack replacement, seems like a good idea, too.....

Auto Transporter Trailer By Revell

So it's out, NOW?? -
Hey, Man....This ought to be a cool setup....You'll be fine with this build....About the only thing I'd watch out for is that, for some reason, the rear of the chassis on every Volvo I've had seems to have an upwar cant....The back wheels will be off the the surface, if you don't compensate....Not too difficult to do, but you need to catch it before your rear axles dry in place.....However, if your trailer has a bit of weight to it at the nose, then it won't matter....Otherwise, it goes together pretty smoothly.....But don't let the curbside format fool you....It's still a pretty involved kit.... What colors are you thinking??

Truck Kits You've Scored Recently

I want one of those US wreckers....Just for the LTL 9000.... -
You know, I keep thinking the same thing about that Firestone Ford....Just a little too pricey, for me.....Luckily, Hobby Lobby carries those, so Amen for the 49% off coupon.....What I really want reissued is the Chevy 454 SS kit....Or any of those late 80's early 90's chevy kits.....Those would be awesome....But the Fleetside would be cool, too....

She's pretty good with a crayon, Man...I wonder what the walls in her bedroom look like....My youngest was pretty good about NOT writing on the walls, but her older siblings were; let's just say, not very careful...... -

That is a smokin' idea with the tube through the axle....I can use that for some of my big rig stuff....Thanks for the tip....
