Instruction sheet? What is that?
kilrathy10 replied to Petetrucker07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You gotta chock that up to experience and expertise.....To be honest with you, I still use them quite often....Especially, on an expensive or a new kit....I even had to look at the instructions for my Raptor model.....However, once you've built a kit a few times, you kinda glance at them every once in a while..... For instance, the Moebius 53' trailer model (The first one)....If you didn't look at the instructions, you could very well have screwed the suspension up pretty bad....And there IS a top and bottom to the side panels..... The Prostar and Lonestar, however are different....Most of us had to build the Lonestar without much help from the instructions, anyway....And, as for my Prostar, I wouldn't have known the best place to cut for the stretch without them.... Now, the Revell Pete 359 snap kit was a no brainer, but those are rare.... And, I too, save all I get....I keep them in my Payhauler 350 box....It's getting full, though.... -
Stretched Revel W-900

LOL...I used the rear suspension out of the KW I have for my T-600 model, as well...Everything else is still there... Sorry, Chris...Didn't mean to use your thread for communications purposes.... -

I was thinking along the same lines, Clayton.....You know, Chris, this model is cheap enough to just go out and get another one and use the cab out of it.....One of the reasons I have the general rule, not to build anything I don't have a duplicate of..... -

Man, you're making this thing look good....Excellent work....You've got some pretty high standards.....This is a level of detail I only dream about....Just don't have the patience....Kudos to you, Dude.....You do awesome work.... -
Oh, yeah....Just some clear plastic you can get from various packaging....My favorite is the ones from the deli at Walmart....I get to eat the cookies and cakes for bonus....And if you're only going to do the box, then a gridded cutting mat is a must....Hobby Lobby sells some decent ones for about $16....That's about $10 with a 40% off coupon....

I've seen this model, before....That's a 1/32 scaler, and it looks awesome....

This may be in the wrong section, but.... I'm no expert, but I've put a few together....The biggest thing that helped me, is once I've built the sleeper walls and gotten them assembled, I built the interior modular style, if you will....I build everything in sections that will just drop in....Here's what I did with my 1/16 scale Pete 379.... I need to work on building them with rounded corners, but you get the general idea.... Remember....Most custom sleepers are just that...Custom....Lay it out any way you want..... And make sure you have a cutting mat with a grid on it.....It's very important to get the sides squared up just right....

Oh, Man....I forgot to answer you.... I did mention it, before, but for you, Terry, I'll say it again.... I got them from the AMT race trailers.....Took two of them, but I was never going to use them for those, anyway....They're amazingly simplistic....I was going to scratch up my own, but I remembered I had them....Saved a bunch of time on this....

Nope.....Lied about that, too....Just had to see it up and down and closed up..... After playing with it a bit, I see that I could have set the bar the chains are attached to a little higher.....Hind sight is 20/20....Oh, well.....Next time....I'm not gonna mess with it.....The cars fit underneath....Barely, but they do, so I'm satisfied..... Had to rework the roof to fit my modifications, so that will go on, tomorrow.....I have to paint it all over again, but I ran out of Silver Foil Metallic paint......Uh Oh....An excuse to go to Hobby Lobby.....Amazing how that works, huh???

Got some paint applied.....It was killing me to have had to let this dry, but I was patient....NOT !! I couldn't stand it....Got it installed after a few hours.... Now, after this all dries, I'll close it up and take shots of it up and down....Obviously, I'll have to move my vehicle racks back to reach the new lift, but that will have to wait till morning.....

Elevator lift gate fabbed up and assembled.....Sorry, I couldn't get any more detailed with this, as everything was done on the fly....I wasn't, exactly, sure HOW I was going to do it....It's my first one, you know... First, I made up a frame designed to fit snugly into the back of the trailer..... I had originally designed for the elevator to be able to drop to the ground, hence the cut out, but I felt I needed a little more stability at the bottom, so it ended up a little different, as you will see in the other photos..... Then I used a couple of small nails I had laying around to secure the lift gate..... And this is how it all fits together..... Now, all that's left to do is add a flip out deck piece....But I'll do that later....Time to install it onto the trailer....

That is one GORGEOUS Pete 377...And that 378 is just down right AWESOME.....I remember your build thread....Amazing work.... -
Thanks, Man....Yeah....I know about how they scrunch 'em down with those itty bitty tires and such, but I didn't want to mess up a good Raptor model.....Sucks, because I just finished painting the body.....Oh, well....I've got other stuff....I've even got an old Pro Stock Thunderbird that's looking at me right now....Still not sure what to display with it, yet.....We'll see, though.... I've got the elevator assembled and painted....Should have it installed by tomorrow....Pictures acomin'....

Great looking little car.....Beautiful build....I've liked these ever since they came out.....

Great job on this problematic kit....The AMT model is nothing compared to the Revell/Monogram kits.....But you've done a great job.....
-
Gorgeous build....Looks awesome....I remember my Aunt had one of these as a kid....I want to say it was white, but I'm not sure....Anyway.....Awesome build....
