  1. This one I built last summer for a good friend of mine. He had seen a 58 Impala in a toy store in these colors when he was a little boy. He fell in love with the 58 but his parents couldn't afford to buy it for him. I decided to build a replica of the one he saw as a kid & send it to him. Here is how it turned out:
  2. Here's another one of the pre-painted Polar Lights kits, the 1964 Pontiac GTO Coupe. I didn't like the dullness on this one, just like the the 65 Coronet, so I sprayed it with clear coat & shined it up just a bit. Hope you enjoy.
  3. You're correct James. I used whatever I could get to fit from the Monogram Impala convertible to the AMT El Camino. I used the windshield frame & glass, both bumpers, the chassis & engine, the interior, the fender ornaments & front eyebrows & even the tires & wheels.
  4. Thank you for the great comments! I do appreciate it.
  5. Whoa!! Really Paul? First build? Looks like you've been building for years. Beautiful paint finish & your boards in the box look so real. I'm duly impressed.
  6. I would like that as well, Pete! I don't think Mopar got as much model car recognition as they should have. Even though I was brought up on GM, I can see the beauty of the older Mopars...Desotos, Imperials, Cryslers as well as Dodge & Plymouth. I would love to see more of them released in styrene.
  7. I would have done Christine, but I already have the diecast from Danbury Mint.
  8. I would love to claim that I made the Gas Station, but I didn't. I bought that pre assembled from Danbury Mint several years ago.
  9. Pete, the gold on the spear is gold bare metal foil...a pain in the rear to work with. Gotta love fins!!
  10. Just goes to show you that I don't know nearly as much about Mopars as I do GM.
  11. Thanks again for the great responses, I do appreciate it. Gary, you hit the nail on the head...Variety is the spice of life. I like to build a variety of models & I usually build them the way I would like to drive them if they were the real thing. Dominik, I'm glad you like this one...I have many more resin wagons waiting in the wings to be built when I get the time. Just something about the long roofs that is so cool.
  12. Thanks for the great responses guys! Joe...this is an original annual convertible from 1964. George...I had an Aunt that used to have a beautiful Goldwood yellow with black interior hardtop. Hers had the 327 with powerglide, AM-FM radio, power steering & brakes & tilt steering wheel. That was the first tilt column I had ever seen. I will be doing a replica build of her car in the near future. I already have the Goldwood yellow paint in my stock.
  13. Absolutely stunning build...gorgeous paint, great attention to detail, but what else would you expect from a master builder like Donn Yost?
  14. This is what I called "His & Hers" 59's. I was messing around one night at the local body shop where a friend was manager. I was mixing some paint for use on my models & I started mixing some different blues & pearls & I ended up with this turquoise color that I thought had a 50's look to it. I used it on both the Impala & El Camino. I customized the El Camino with parts from another Impala kit & also relieved the body of it's roof for a custom Elky convertible. Here are the photos of both. I hope you enjoy. and the El Camino:
  15. This is another of my 2011 builds. The newest release of the AMT 1958 Edsel, painted in Power Blue & Bright White. I built this one factory stock.
  16. This is another rebuilder that I stripped & repainted in a light yellow. It has a dark green interior, dark tinted windows & parts box wheels with some vintage red wall tires.
  17. Here is another of my 2012 builds. An original 64 Impala SS convertible. This one was supposed to have the working head & tail lights but the parts needed were missing from the kit when I bought it on Ebay. I painted this one with 1959 Chevy Crown Sapphire blue with a dark blue interior. I decided to depart from doing my favorite white interior on this build & I think it works pretty good. It's built all stock, straight from the box. Hope you enjoy.
  18. I stand corrected Jay. I remember reading that when I was researching the Fury's while building this one. They had the Sport Fury in 59 then discontinued the Sport till 1961 I think it was.
  19. Thanks for the nice comments!! Monty, I use automotive base coat & clear coat. I've been using House Of Kolor lately as well as some factory mixed paints from paintscratch.com & I use HOK clear coat. I spray using an automotive touch up gun instead of an airbrush.
  20. Thank you for so many great comments. I am especially proud of how this build turned out. There are times when I surprise myself.
  21. Thank you for so many great comments, I do appreciate it. Monty, I honestly don't remember if I had to modify the front suspension to make it poseable or if it came that way. I really like the poseable steering as well...gives the model a bit more realism.
  22. Keep at it Jamie. It takes practice. You gotta have high quality material, good weather conditions, a clean environment & clean model parts. Definitely invest in a $1 tack rag if you don't have one yet. They can really make a difference by picking up dust particles that you might not even see.
  23. Thanks guys...this is another of my favorite older builds. At the time I built this one I was using Sikkens paint products just because they were available to me from a buddy working at a body shop. Now I use House Of Kolor paints and factory colors from Paintscratch.com & final polishing with a Micro Mark polishing kit & final polish with Turtle Wax Scratch & Swirel remover. Walid, the 2012 Camaro has a color very close to what I used on my 69 called Synergy Green.
  24. What Al said. Love that top & the wheels are perfect for the car. What did you use to make that roof covering?
  25. Thanks guys...I too love the look of those Magnum 500 rims. They scream "Muscle"
