  1. Absolutely stunning build! I really want one of these in my collection now! Great color...reminds me of the special colors that were available only in the NW.
  2. Thanks again for all the great comments guys. It's always nice to know that I've done something right for a change
  3. Jeff, I've seen many of his kits on Ebay as well...& have also been outbid on them. That fact should testify as to the quality he put out, if people are paying high prices to get them on Ebay. I had many of his kits in my stash at one time...buying 3 & 4 at a time but fell upon hard times in the early 2000's & started selling off my collection of factory & resin kits & now I am kicking myself daily that I sold off most of his kits. He had kits for cars that no one else is putting out to this day. Live & learn I guess. Tell Art hi for me next time you talk...I doubt he will remember me. Just one of the many that really enjoyed his craft.
  4. Beautiful build John. That color is fantastic. Spot on with every detail!
  5. Great looking build Mark! Silver is one of the hardest colors to get to look right on a model, but you nailed it. Outstanding effort.
  6. Back up lights were standard on the Impalas from 58 on. I chose to customize by replacing the back up light with a third tail light.
  7. Great looking Fleetline Matt! I love that custom color & the stance is perfect Old Skool. I see nothing wong with your photos. Hope to see a lot more builds from you.
  8. Gorgeous build!! The blue looks like "Grabber Blue" to me. That is just a SMOOOOTH looking body!
  9. Beautiful job on the Belvedere Bruce!! Very nice color combo & I personally like the WW tires...adds a touch of class.
  10. Thanks again for all the nice comments. Charlie, the Sinclaie station measures 16" X 12-1/2" X 6-1/2". the top lifts off so you can look at everything in side. I wish the depth was deeper as you can only get about half of a 1/25 car inside on the hoist. Danbury also offered the Mobil & Texaco stations...but now it looks like Danbury Mint diecasts is going out of business so there may not be anymore stations or diecasts from them.
  11. Thanks again everyone for the great comments. This build has held up pretty well for being built about 15 years ago.
  12. I found time tonight to put the finishing touches on the 60 Impala convertible that I got from Ebay as a rebuilder. I painted it in HOK Sherwood green pearl. Hope you enjoy.
  13. That's very interesting because I just received the order form on saturday for the Watson T-Bird. Are they just trying to drum some extra cash while they go under?
  14. Thank you again for all the great comments! Yes, I guess I'm a little behind the times with my upholstery. I built this model back in the mid 90's & was just fooling around with different fabrics & found a good sized swatch of corduroy & I thought...that would look like tuck n roll..from a fair distance..lol, so I tried it. I was pleased with the results. I also used the same material for the interior of a 51 Chevy Bel Air that I haven't posted photos of yet. Ron Martz...I'm pretty sure the convertible boot was included in the kit. Luke...I think the Olds Fiesta caps came from the Revell "Skips Drive In" 59 Ford Skyliner kit. A special thank you to Dr. Cranky...Virgil, I watch your videos on you tube all the time! Very informative & entertaining too. Keep up the good work.
  15. Thanks again guys for all the great comments. I agree with you, Jeff, about MPC although back when I was a kid building kits I really didn't pay any attention to sloppy chassis alignment...I worried more about how the body looked & MPC was usually pretty spot on, where Revell back in the old days was some BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. Now Revell is setting the bar for accuracy & detail where Round 2 is just reissuing the same old innacurate MPC kits. Don't get me wrong...I'll take an innacurate MPC over nothing at all. I've done several of the R&R resin kits & yes they are somewhat challenging. Unfortunately, for most of what they offer, they are the only game in town. I've seen the MIssing Link Grand Prix on Ebay & I think it's the 71-72 version with single headlights. I will have one of those also, eventually. Now I just gotta figure out how to live long enough to build all the kits I have waiting Oh how I long for the days when Art Anderson was in the resin casting business with his All American Models. His work was right up there with The Modelhaus for quality & at a reasonable price. If I just had a time machine...
  16. Wow, that is a retina scorching color for sure, I love it!! Nice wheel choice & good looking chassis. Do I detect some photo etched emblems? I think I do. Like someone else said, some bare metal foil & wiring & she'd be fantastic.
  17. Outstanding job on the Cobra! You hit all the right notes with this one.
  18. Great job Bernard! You do nice work. I really love those chrome wheel spiders! Where did you get them? I'm desperate to find some.
  19. I agree with Harry, great job of opening the doors & canopy.
  20. Gary Cook, thank you so much for your post...your words touched my heart & got me a little choked up. Yes, I wish I could have been there when he opened the package & saw the Impala in person. He had been trying to build one himself but his paint skills are tuned more towards the "weathering" aspect of building & he excels at that type of building to heights that I will NEVER reach. He had painted the body three times I believe before giving up, so I told him to send it to me & I would get it painted. After he saw the photos of the painted body we mutually agreed that I would finish the build for him. He had a custom showcase made for it & it's the centerpiece of his collection. I hope my motives for posting my photos is not misunderstood. I am not one to brag or toot my own horn & in no way am I trying to show off. I would hope that the photos I post would be an inspiration to others to push themselves for that shiny paint, or detailed interior, or whatever. I look at my builds & see flaws in every one of them where I could have done something better. I think I am improving with every build, at least thats my goal. I am not above giving advise if I feel qualified & I won't hesitate to help out a fellow modeller with needed parts or complete kits or even a paint job. I feel very fortunate to have a large collection of unbuilts that I can afford to help out someone less fortunate...especially our younger builders. They are the future of model building. I think a lot of us that are building are baby boomers & when we are gone it will be up to the younger generations to keep the hobby alive. Oh boy...I've rambled on now...I'll get off my soap box.
  21. That was one thing I did try Harry, but the engraving on the grills is so shallow the wash was covering the entire grill. I may try it again cause I know it would look a lot better.
  22. Stephen, my friend told me that when the car arrived he cried cause it was exactly like the one he remembered from his childhood & had wanted so badly. Yes, the AMT version takes yards of BMF, not only outside but in the interior as well. I built another 58 years ago that I still have in my collection. I painted it with Testors Sapphire blue. Here's a photo of that one:
  23. Thank you for all the great comments. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that had a bit of frustration while building this one.
  24. This one I built several years ago. It's got a corduroy interior & some custom touches.
  25. I decided to try my hand at building the old Revell Lincoln Futura kit. I've never been fond of multi-piece body kits & this one just reaffirmed my dislike. For so few pieces it was a pain to build. I was painting my Grandpa's replica 63 Impala at the same time I was working on this one so I used the same Laurel Green paint for the Futura. I thought it matched the box photo much better than the nasty light green that the kit came moulded in. I got it together with the help of a lot of clamps & clothes pins & masking tape. I don't consider it one of my better builds, but it looks ok in it's showcase & in my collection. Hope you enjoy. One of these days I will tackle my Round 2 Batmobile.
