  3. Now it's Saturday
  4. Thanks Mike, I thought that might be the case. Originally I was going to do the Ford Phantom Van, but I'm still on the hunt for something better; so the search continues...
  5. What's everyone's thoughts on a 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery? Specifically this...
  6. he brought cereal
  7. So day one started by picking up the Nova, and as you can see she is ugly. But on the good side she was in an inside garage for a while so all the floor boards, trunk, and rails all in good shape. Plus, the seller gave us boxes and boxes of parts (old and new) to go along with dream he had of someday rebuilding the car (inc. the original 350 engine & 4spd trans). Now she sure shows allot of surface rust from previous sanding, but actually the car has minimal rot. Tomorrow the complete tear-down begins (or shall I say the box gets opened LOL).
  8. Would it be best post P2P "in progress" here or under the regular On the Workbench forum? I really like how MeatMan makes a story of his build, but it could easily get lost in this forum, suggestions?
  9. Kind of what I'm running into, after looking closer at the Nova. The top of trunk hits the bottom of the back window, so I started thinking of other ideas. Then I came across Rick Johnson's Snortin Nortin 73 Nova and was intrigued by the way the way the spare tire is being carried. I was thinking about doing something similar (but further toward the rear of car). However, it still involves cutting away part of the trunk lid. Oh well, there is always "plan B", back to drawing board. LOL.
  10. Input, thoughts, opinion needed on if this is kind of stuff is permitted? I'm building a 69 Nova for the P2P, and am thinking about extending the roll bar to the rear of the car. Within this design I'd also like to carry my 2 spare tires, however it looks like it might require partial or complete removal of the trunk lid, and/or possibly the rear window. I still have figure this all out. I also thought about maybe doing something like a hatchback, or adding an inner wall and creating something similar to an El'Camino. I'm just not sure what modifications like this can/can't be performed. Mainly do things like this fall under the technical specifications...8.1.10 No body panels of alternative composite materials or is there another place to get further details?
  11. I'm in. Just found a kit in my stash...a 1941 Plymouth Coupe. If it's not taken (it doesn't look like it) I'd like to take #52. Update: The 41 Plymouth kit I had was missing to many pieces, so I'll be entering a 69 Chevy Nova SS (small block) instead. Still would like #52 if available.
  12. Are minor "lifts" permitted to accommodate larger than stock tires? which leads me to my next question.. Can the fender/wheel well openings being cut/expanded to allow for larger tires?
  13. Our winner is Fat Brian! Congrats!
  14. I'm waving my white flag at this point! There is just no way I will be done by the deadline. There is always next year. Good luck to everyone still in and I can't wait to see some of the creative and insane stuff people have built this year.
  15. Count me in on the 2019 Vannonball Run with a 1976 Ford (Phantom) Van (AMT767) kit. I'm sure I won't be the only one using this as a starting point.
  16. "VannonBall Run" you gotta love that name! LOL!
  17. Whenever anyone is ready to post their model; I just created a new forum for you designed to just show off the models. Titled Ultimate Weekend Warrior 4X4 - Post Your Builds it can be found here. Reminder: deadline is midnight October 31st, 2018.
  18. Builders who have participated in the 2018 Ultimate Weekend Warrior 4X4 Community Build, this is the place to display your completed / finished models...this forum will then be closed at midnight on October 31, 2018. This forum is where ALL Model Cars Magazine Forum members are invited to peruse the finalists before voting for their favorite in the poll. So remember, how well you present your model is important - good photos go a long way. Please help by keeping this area limited to postings only photos so that it makes it's easier for everyone to just view the models. If you would like to offer feedback / comments to any of the builders, please use the the Ultimate Weekend Warrior 4X4 - Community Build forum here.
  19. Ahhh...forgot the sleeper was done (must be my age catching up w/ me). I'm liking the idea of vans, utes, p/u's, wagons etc...too. Another idea I thought of was "Destination Hollywood" meaning all vehicles must have appeared in a TV show or movie ? Just throwing it out there...
  20. My main idea in one word is "SLEEPER" meaning it looks unsuspecting (stock, minor exterior upgrades, junkers only???) but can complete the "race" in record time! Key factors here would include a quality engine, transmission, drive-train and safety. Something that at least looks roadworthy is a plus so it doesn't catch the eye of every law enforcement officer you pass along the way. LOL I'll probably think of other ideas too.
  21. Unfortunately, due to some health issues (which have given me hand tremors) I will not be able to enter my Blazer since I have made little to no progress on it. I have enjoyed seeing other models so far, and am looking forward to models yet to be posted. Only a few more weeks left!
