  1. And here all the flairs have been sanded & shaped. Putty work still remains to blend the flairs into the body.
  2. Here the rear flair has been sanded & shaped and the front is still in its rough form.
  3. Thanks Marcos. It will be nice to bring something to the meeting other than a Cobra!
  4. Using the sanded fenders and my paper template I cut out the stock wheel well opening and glue it to the edge of the strip styrene I created the fender extension with.
  5. I bought an old built up from that auction site we all love to hate for a grand total of $8 including shipping! I tried chemically stripping the paint but no luck so I had to sand the paint off the fenders.
  6. After cleaning up the rough opening I glued in a strip of Evergreen styrene to the desired width of the flair.
  7. Well I took the plunge. I am attempting to add the wheel flairs. I laid out the rough opening for the flairs with a paper template and then using a jewler's coping saw I cut out the stock openings.
  8. Here I have moved the rear shock towers out against the frame rails where they should be.
  9. Thanks Tony, sounds like a nice car. I really liked your Tony Adamowicz F5000 build-very nice.
  10. Thanks Bill, I may take you up on some reference photos later on. I think I have what I need at the moment. Here's some photos of a 911ST I did awhile back.
  11. Thanks. The only 914/6 resin kit that I am aware of was made by Volkl. I have been looking for one for years and have not found one. If anyone has one I would be very interested in it.
  12. Thanks Bill. I understand this modification will not be totally faithful to the 1:1 car. Based on my research I thought the 911 rear clip would give a fairly accurate representaton of the the 1:1 car and allow me to build a more detailed model. The Revell kit's floor pan has no frame structure at all and I thought the kit's rear trailing arms where lacking. I plan to add a coil spring in lieu of the shocks I show mocked-up. Frankly I didn't even look at the Fujimi's 356 kit suspension to see if it may be more accurate.
  13. Steve, I have a couple of Cobras posted in "My Gallery" on my profile page you might like.
  14. A little more surgery and we have the rear suspension mocked-up. The ride hight is way to high at this point but we will adjust that later as well as clean-up all the protruding pins and rods.
  15. After a little surgey I was able to attach it to the 914's very simple floor pan.
  16. I had an old 911 built-up lying around so it will donate the rear frame section.
  17. Confession, I am a Porsche fanatic. I have always hoped that Fujimi, or any kit manufacturer would release a detailed Porsche 914 kit. I would even be happy if Revel would re-issue ther simplified kit. Well I guess I am tired of waiting so what I am attempting to do is kit bash Revell's kit with Fujimi's Enthusiast Porsche 911 kit to build the best 914/6 I can. I would like to build the race car with the wheel well flairs but body mods have never been my strength so well see. I am more of a chassis/engine kind of guy so that is where I am going to start. Here is the Revell kit I am starting with.
  18. Yes HRM is still in business. Harold has in his catalog the small block 289 engine kit that is correct for Fujimi's GT40. He is working on a 427 engine kit (along with many other projects) that will be correct for Fujimi's GT40 Mark II kit. The 427 is not yet available.
  19. I love'm. Here is my effort with a 911R/911-Rally kit bash.
  20. Anne I prefer to use both. I like spray cans for the bodies. Cans give you a nice big spray pattern to help keep from building too much paint in one spot. Tamiya spay paints are my favorite. I then use a single action Badger airbrush to piant samll parts, interiros etc. Here spray cans put out too much paint too quickly and make it difficult to get good paint coverage without drowning the part in paint or getting runs in the paint. Here is an example of the results I get with this method. Hope this helped.
  21. Steve, awesome build!! I am very interested in the red Cobra. The wheel well arches do not look like standard AMT-are they? Where did the Halibrand wheels and tires on this car come from?
  22. Thanks Roy. The (2) Weber carbureted engine are from Historic Racing Miniatures. The four-barrel carbureted engine in the red Cobra is from Monogram's GT350R kit.
  23. & working on a third Cobra CSX 2128
  24. I have (2) contributions, First is CSX2026 the car that delivered Shelby's first race win with the Cobra and 2nd CSX 2142 Shelby's '63 Le Man entry.
