  1. Ebay, I try to buy lots of items I,m interested in to offset shipping. When it comes to supply's, I try to think ahead and bulk buy needed or soon to be needed items from online stores like previously mentioned.
  2. I set up for airbrush and started buying bottles of paint when I got back into the hobby. In buying local models on craigslist alot of times the paint was thrown in. After buying about 20 bottles of paint, I now have a rack and about 400 1/2 oz and 1/4 bottles and several hundred cans or spray paint free or next to nothing. Time to get building--Personally painting is my least favorite thing, I enjoy the results but prefer the build and creativity of getting to paint. Great question, I look forward to seeing other responses.
  3. Agreed, it can always be worse but being human I;m ready for the better. Best wishes to those that need it.
  4. Nice work, reminds me of drawings I used to do. Thanks for sharing.
  5. So what color is canned bread ? But seriously that is some diversifying, Warren Buffet would be proud.
  6. Ditto, someday I hope visit your country and New Zealand while in the region/or hemisphere. I'm thinking at least a month, and still not enough I'm sure. Anyways welcome and looking forward to your contributions.
  7. Well said, we should be positive to all questions and never forget none of us knew anything about this hobby when we started.
  8. I'm biased in liking american cars but welcome and I look forward to seeing our work.
  9. Nice job, It looks about right with wheels and tires worth more than the vehicle.
  10. I agree photo shop but that cow induction is classic. Thanks for the laugh.
  11. Yea the Nationals are here. Thanks for the pics. I went to Hangtown in 2001-had a great time but was too hot-100+ I used to go to Washougal every year until they went to timed practice qualifying. They took away 2 days of racing and turned it into a 4 hour show . Still a fan, but that money now goes in my own bikes and riding trips.
  12. I acquired this in a local collection I bought. I built this last winter as a box stock, change of pace slump buster. It was a fun quick build and went together well. Enjoy
  13. Here you go Rob--the modifications are pretty straightforward and has a unique look.
  14. I have a WIP where I took a Revell 48 Ford Woody and made a small extended cab pickup. The parts match well without sectioning but the bed needs fabricated and some work on the wood mold where rear door used to be. I also shaved the hood slightly to give it a drop at the nose. Mines half painted but if you want pics let me know. I think think it looks pretty cool.
  15. I agree that facts and knowledge are welcome. I also understand you have to know your audience and how it will be received. If addressing a known confrontational poster I say pass, but if it's someone with familiarity or open to suggestions, I would think it fine. As you know a big problem with written words on the net is the sincerity, or lack of, what is trying to be communicated. The answer may be all or none of the suggestions, but the bottom line is you'll never please everyone--post away where applicable.
  16. The price is ridiculous, but I want one. Wish it were in styrene. http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/05/03/quick-spin-icon-dodge-d200-power-wagon/?intcmp=features
  17. That's coming along nicely Ira. The fit of all these parts is pretty close-great vision on this project-even if it's "in the cellar" at the bottom of the page.
  18. Nice start, I like the gun rack idea. I remember when almost every pickup had them, even at my high school in the mid eighty's. Mine guns were in the back seat of my mustang, not quite the same. Now, you might be lucky to see one in a ranch truck in the middle of nowhere, or just south of that.
  19. I would tell them your precious time is for your builds and direct them to the diecast world. I have built several models of 1-1 and given as surprise gifts but if asked and/or pestered it probably wouldn't happen. Stick with your gut on this one.
  20. My condolences, I haven't had to deal with that yet and couldn't imagine how to. Stay strong.
  21. I've used the Purple Power with mixed results for chrome but pure bleach seems to work better all around for me. Engine looks good--Go ManGo
  22. That's a far cry from Bob Barkers day. Pinto, Chevette, Citation and other similar cars.
  23. Having followed this forum for years now, there is nothing better available. The reason in my opinion is because of the rules and organization of this forum. I have watched and seen the changes, while I don't agree with them all, you will never please everyone. I may be new posting but I have seen alot of the drama on this site over the years, which the mods have done their best to control. I finally joined when I saw some control and organization. If not for that, I and maybe many others may not be here. We are all representatives of this hobby and I for one would rather build up than tear down. My 2 cents.
  24. My favorite part of modeling, cutting and creating. I like how your mind works, can't wait to see where this goes.
  25. I can't believe someone would be upset at getting a car as a present (even a classic needing work) but I guess it does happen. Best of luck.
