  1. Thanks John, missed about 20 laps throughout the race... it was hard after spending 4 hours watching Nascar at Texas in the same day, but got to see the checkers, good race. Here is one final pic
  2. Here it is guys... A bit of a dramatic build but over and done with, thank you all for hanging around and all the props during the build. Off to watch the F1 race (2:12am)...
  3. Thanks John, I guess all this is a big part of the learning curve so I can't complaint much...
  4. Thank you Oscar... Missing the antennas and the mirrors, but the front is pretty much done (Is also missing the lower windshield decal, I ruined it while cutting another). WORD OF CAUTION: The Spaz Stix Ultra Shine Clear Coat Acrylic Enamel will melt the Tamiya paint and freeze the colors (You may not see it in the photos but the car turned almost to plain gray). Dooooood.... I'm getting schooled ove here!!!
  5. Yup!!!.... Been using the airbrush to do clear only... But I have to say, IT IS FUN painting with it
  6. Thanks Derick... Finished the decals in the front...
  7. Saturday's decal session....
  8. Thanks again Tomo, but not so fast... I may even ask if you have a gun handy and may be willing to put me down at once!!! Worked a little more on the car last night and honestly thought the chassis was finished (On a side note, this kit comes with no pedals)... This morning getting ready to continue working on the body I realized there is an irreparable mistake... When pressing the cockpit into the engine bay, the bottom pins came up and lifted the engine compartment This creates a gap that does not allow the body to fit all the way down... The boddy seats off center and the air filters do not fit right into the holes... Pretty frustrated at the moment; I may finish this just for kicks and giggles, but it tears me inside out
  9. Ta-Ta!!!.... My carbon fiber debout A bit off on the silhouettes because of the bigger size prints and before giving it some heat; most visible marks are from excess glue and/or paint
  10. FINALLY!!!... Got stuff Will only be able to use a fraction of this kit, but it should help the detail a bit The infamous carbon fiber.... Which seems to be for the "OTHER" model, so I will have to wing it freehanded And some hardware
  11. A bit of a rough morning over here... Ruined, not one, but two firewalls. Call it lack of ability or missing the right kind of masking tape OR whatever!; I could not figure out how to paint the cage bars alone in metallic blue... Down to only one left, I decided to paint the whole top section in Blue, but I was so into putting it together, completely forgot to paint the shocks. Blah!!! I also have to find some fabric to make the seat belts...
  12. Thanks Tomo... I wish I could say the same about my hands, everything seems to get drawn to them
  13. Vernon, the 1989 Mercedes C9 can be painted in Black OR in Blue, the Black model uses the AEG Olympia livery and the Blue has Kouros livery (The Silver model is the Factory Team).
  14. Still need to touch up a few places and paint all the bolts throughout the engine...
  15. Thanks Mike... This would be my third model (Even though I have got to confess that I had to repeat a couple bodies and some parts to finish the other two). Overall happy with the progress so far
  16. Thanks Oscar... Funny thing is all you guys pop out in my mind while I'm working on this project... knowing a few of you are reading makes me put some extra effort.
  17. Painted some more...
  18. Painted some... Primed some... Tomo: You were absolutely right, the PS Tamiya coded paints will not work (Even with primer)... Still waiting on the Carbon Fiber stuff... The seller finally replied saying he will mail it "tomorrow" (All this stuff was ordered on March the 23rd ). I will probably start working on the body decals in the meantime.
  19. Actually, your Cooper is a 1/12 scale...
  20. Thank you Tomo, your Mercedes looks nice!!!... *edit*... I didn't know the PS code was lexan paint... Is the only Tamiya code available for Gold in a spray can YES!!!, every other spray paint I have tried splashes half way through the can (Even the clear is a pain to use)... But now that I have gotten a hold of the air brush, it seems an extra expense for Laquer paint is going to have to happen... Thank you Derick, I just turned it until it was tight... Will take it back out and add some more teflon then.
  21. I wish I had tried this sooner!!!..... Been playing all morning long (With water mostly), and painting with airbrush is FUN!!!
  22. I've got some toys on today's mail.... Ended up trading an unwanted set with a fellow member, for the Sauber Mercedes C9 containing the correct decals for this build: Also got a few spray cans with color codes that were missing: And paint brush paints to match: Also got the decal setter recommended for the Carbon fiber decals: AND, a newly found product that I wanted to test for future projects... This product will allow you to replicate candy colors in very high quality (Or so they say): Still waiting for the carbon fiber and the Tamiya Fine Primer to move on...
