  1. Wooow.... Tuff crowd, and yet I thought I was going to look like a hero for making a kit look like this with only a hand full of projects under my belt I didn't like the interior in Silver, it makes the car too plain, PLUS the floors have carpet texture In any case, this is the best I could manage to please you guys
  2. Well... I'm kind of liking the way the engine looks (More so installed), but yes you are right, it was not what I had in mind when I decided to wire it. I couldn't say for sure how much coin I may have on Spray paints... But most of them are about $ 6.00 per can (Except the Metallic Silver TS-83 which sells for over $ 15.00). Also made the mistake to order a whole bunch of Tamiya paints coded PS because the colors are extremely vivid, but these ended up being for RC polycarbonate plastic.
  3. I've got you bud, but that is just the thing... Neither one of those options would even get close to resemble the real deal: In the future when I'm able to polish my skills, I'd sure love to build something to perfect scale... Right now we are still calling this one my 5th project, so the mediocre experiments would have to suffice
  4. I agree, but that would need a pre-wired distributor... I just dont think all 8 wires would fit in the tiny distributor that comes with the kit (It was a bad idea to skip purchasing it). The pre-wired looks like is just too many cables to put on top of the engine, don't you think?
  5. I had to hide them going down... That is what happens when you don't have a pre wired distributor Thanks John. A couple more pics.... That's it for this week... have a great rest of the weekend guys
  6. Engine phaze 2: And some work to the interior floor OOOOPS!!!...
  7. We all hide a few things before the pic...
  8. Looks good to me Ron... The dragster looks awesome as well.
  9. Same station, different project.... Happy Saturday folks.
  10. Yes, That was it... Brake Fluid!!!... I'll keep in mind for future use, can only feel like a complete fool after throwing out at least 4 or 5 bodies
  11. What is Purple Pond?... I heard on a video that some sort of motor oil will wipe the paint away... Literally dumped several bodies to ruined paints.
  12. Seriously Mike???.... Can I get worse??? Thanks Kenneth
  13. I would love to see the Drag version... Off to check your posts The body was sanded, but I honestly thought these were lines that were part of the car... Believe me, it was really hard to sand it while trying not to remove them
  14. I'd have to agree Fred, on the long run the models that are properly cured are meant to last forever (Others start flaking and drying after time). Seen many things in these threads, most of them (Like scratch building, or attaching and un-attaching parts, or using massive amounts of putty to alter parts) I wouldn't even know how to do it or where to start... Probably once I burn through the hype of finding a new hobby and my skill gets better these things will come to me. Been there!!!... The stand is meant to be held from the bottom, this way you can spin it with your thumb...
  15. Thank you Tommy. I usually complete the full body before assembling the chassis... In this case, the grille and the rear bumper are the last things to be assembled in the kit and according to the instructions the chassis and the body have to be joint half way through the build... With this said, I wont be able to apply the clear coats at last without ruining the windows. I guess I would have to be extra careful when the car is upside down not to ruin the decals or the finish
  16. I would strongly advise you to get the Tamiya alligator clips for it, the flat nose clips included in the kit are not very reliable.
  17. Jason Is a Tamiya paint stand, they are very affordable and come with an extra fixture to press the chassis
  18. Meeeeh... I made a couple scratches but I think is decent overal, the rear window frame was tough!!!
  19. Guys?... Never done this before, any words of advice before I do something I may regret?
  20. Thanks Tomo, I think your build is very nice and deserves a lot of credit as well... Engine Phase 1: Still have to touch up a few places but right now "I'm Shaking"!!!
  21. Thanks Richard, It was "down to the wire" today
  22. Thanks Jason I began toying with the engine this morning... These are not Mopar / Chrysler factory colors, but I really like metallic finishes
