  1. AWESOME!!!... Please let me know how to find it. Tomo, I think our taste in cars is geared towards Road Cars (GT, Le Mans maybe even F1?), But I wouldn't mind seeing some Rally stuff as well. Oscar, if you think that of your models, I can't even begin to iimagine what would you guys think about mine
  2. You'll be back building models in no time Tomo... But you are right, first things first... Maybe my adventures will serve as a motivation I tried again with the 4 pieces for the right side of the roof... F A I L ! ! ! It seems this is the common issue , gonna have to find some decal guru to teach me how to deal with these suckers
  3. Sure thing "Brother" Right now every piece of advice seems like a million bucks!!!, Please shot that link over. GT power baby!!!
  4. This kit is really nice Jonathan, is pretty straight forward and very clean out of the box... The problem with the decals is that they are extremely thin AND long, plus the body has lines and crevices "everywhere" which makes the decals nearly impossible to set straight... The advice from a guy that finished this build perfectly was to use the Micro Set / Micro Sol decal setter, which in reality helps a lot, but since it softens the decal, it makes it basically untouchable. I just watched a YouTube tutorial on this particular product (Which is the very first time I use), the guy was talking about letting the decal seat for 15 to 20 minutes before even trying to fix any imperfections. Had a total of 4 decal sets, but one set was incomplete from my previous build... So now, after failing three times, will have to get additional sets Right this second I'm loving Revell for making such nice and easy to apply decals
  5. There is not such a thing as a "Piece of cake"!!!... Already failed twice on the left roof decal; can't even begin to imagine how tough is going to be to get the hood decals right The decal setter mede it even worse!!!
  6. You are right about the decals Tomo... It is the exact reason why I didn't do it in Castrol livery the first time around. Jim which of the Le Mans versions do you have the Denso Zard in White/Red or the Denso Black/Red... Or the PlayStation in Silver/Yellow?
  7. You should try James, I always do the initial sanding with 400 (For the mold lines and stuff), then I move to 2000 and work all the way up 12000; still polish after... I bet you'll get a much better finish.
  8. I learned from Donn Yost to polish the sanded plastic to remove any small scratches from the sanding... The Tamiya primer is extremely fine and even the smallest detail will show. I use the # 2 for the bare plastic and then # 2 and # 1 for the paint... I also use the # 1 again after the clear. Would recommend to anyone that would like to improve on their finishing skills to make the extra investment and get these DVD's... They have sure helped me "A LOT"!!!
  9. Of course not , I polished them before the primer, and I will again after the paint...
  10. The kits... Cutout and sanded Cleansed and glued Primed, sanded and polished... They will be painted this afternoon...
  11. Project # 7 (and #8)... The usual box stock Fresh out of a frustrated Audi A4 DTM build, decided to fall back into something more in accordance with my skill level but this time around it will be a double build (See if I can finally deliver the model I've been promising to a good friend of mine). Originally wanted to build a NSX Raybrig, but endend up selecting a Tamiya Tom's Supra model that I already built back in February (That one was my second build ever), decided to build it again mainly because it was made using custom colors and decals that didn't come out at all as expected, also because I'm aware of all the mistakes already made and will have the ability to correct them and lastly... because I truly like this particular car!!!. 1995 Castrol Tom's Toyota Supra GT, some photos for reference: I have been working on these for about a week now so I will post a few more photos during the course of the day. Thank you for reading.
  12. I just hate the fact that was at the very end... BUT, I have to admit, things were kind of going way too fast for me, getting into photo etching, applying carbon / sheet metal, and playing with cables is way above my pulse rhythm... I'm slowing down to something that would be a bit more according to what I can produce. Will post a WIP link here soon.
  13. Thank you Tommy, the kit is very nice, and it shows great detail... I placed this one aside to finish it later on... I will have to leave the body and the chassis separate because it does not fit. It seems either the primer or the paint or maybe even the glue I used are too hot for the plastic used by Revell, the body just shrunk to the point that not even forcing it would rest as it should (On top of everything I had the brilliant idea of cutting the roll cage and it just looks terrible). It does not rev my tach any longer....
  14. Oooops.... I think I just had an abortion
  15. Oh yeah, It will be finished... but is a hard kick in the head. Some paint, a little carbon fiber and two Advil to deal with this headache.... No worries, my "no so secret" secret project is coming along nicely
  16. Tough morning guys... Literally, had to cut the roll cage in order to make the body come down to level with the chassi, but even then the rear door, even though is close, does not look like a perfect match... The only thing that comes to mind is that maybe there are other small differences between the three DTM kits aside from the livery? Is one of those times where you just cant avoid to start looking at the new stuff waiting to be assembled
  17. Thanks James... Now that the body is dry and the nose is attached, I tried a quick fit... I can say without a doubt, that with the full cage, the body wont fit all the way down What is really cruel is all the parts were fitted is a way that they are all in good position and I dont have any excess paint or glue anywhere in the chassis...
  18. I couldn't find the PrismaColor brand, but ended up purchasing these... The tip seems really strong and is also very fine Little detailing...
  19. Third time is the charm....
  20. Coming out great Marko, you sure work FAST!!!... I'm also building and Audi A4 DTM right now. Best of luck, I'll be watching
  21. PS: Qualifying was rained out...
  22. All right folks, this is all she writes for the weekend... It has been really hard to get there but I'm loving every second of it
  23. Thank you Chris. A little heavy on glue on the steering column... AND still need to retouch it up a bit. More to come later.
