Google TJs resin model, they carry one. I haven't seen it but a guy on another forum built one. I think it is mastered off of the diecast cars. I have heard of warping problems with some of his bodies, but might still be a good starting spot.

53 Ford pickup interior ideas?
trackbound replied to trackbound's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Is that from the 41 Willys? Might work. I tried putting pics up of the WIP but for some reason the site is fighting me. The truck was posted under the title "Couple of older WIPs". -
Difference between 31 and 32 Ford
trackbound replied to trackbound's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for the responses. Looking to do a fenderless hot rod and tend to like a lot of the 31 Ford's that I have seen 1:1. I saw Lyle Willits' 31 Ford he did from a Replicas and Miniatures body...sort of looked like a tweaked Revell 32 body to me: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/lyles_model_cars/lyles_street_rod_models/4.html -
What are the body differences between a 31 and 32 Ford 5w coupe? I know the bottom of the 31 is flat and the door opening goes to the bottom. Other than that, I am not sure. Curious what else would need to be adjusted on the Revell 32 to make it look more like a 31.

Meyers Manx decals?
trackbound replied to trackbound's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Do they tend to gloss up once wet and applied or will they need a clear coating? -
I opened my newly released Round2 Meyers Manx decals and noticed they have a very matte look to them unlike any other decals I have seen. Is this correct for the kit or did I get a dud?

Great job. The 67 Chevelle is also one of my favorite 1:1s. It has been a while since I built either of the Revell 67s. Is that the kit interior tub? I don't remember the rear seat being separate...I thought it was molded in. The tub looks like the pro street tub.

I have had this idea rattling around in my head for quite some time...taking a bunch of used up pieces that have been laying in the parts box and make something of them. The first pic shows the first starting pile of parts that have been used on a kit (paint and/or glue messes to deal with). Some scratch building has been necessary, especially with the interior of the cab. At this point, the only items that have not been used on a previous build are the door panels, the pedals, and the wheels/tires (not shown). Not looking for a great deal of detail or accuracy, just a fun build. Chassis is from the AMT 34 Ford Slammer, cab was from the AMT Bigfoot, bed I believe is from an AMT model T, engine seems to be one of the MEL engines, running gear from the Revell 32 Fords, dash is a 55 Chevy (smoothed over), and seats are of unknown origin. Enjoy.

Curious if there are any rumors of Mobieus putting together a Herb Thomas version of their Hudson Hornet? What about quality after market decals?

Very cool build J2. Watching Dr. Cranky videos has been making me think about some creative paint jobs...this just pushes me to want to try even more.

Where can I find PlastiKote primer?

Crazyjim...have you had any problems with the Duplicolor crazing? -
Where can I find PlastiKote primer?
trackbound replied to Austin T's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Bob, thanks for the tip (and great to see another CT guy). I called the NAPA in Bristol and Watertown, neither carry it now. Oh well, might either have to try going to Duplicolor or order it on Amazon. -

Where can I find PlastiKote primer?
trackbound replied to Austin T's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Looking to buy Plastikote sandable primer. I always found it to work best a couple years back before I took a break. I have checked Walmart, Advanced Auto, and the local parts store. I know I use to get it at one of those places...but none seem to carry it now. Does anyone know of a major chain based store that carries it? -
Chris, out of curiosity, what airbrush do you use and with what needle size?

Spent some good chunks of time today going through Cranky's site...holy cow. Finally found the video on the clear, but spent a bunch of time on 100 other things too. Great stuff.

I was looking through his video archives...do you remember what the title was? Definitely interested in checking it out.

50 Ford F1 custom rod
trackbound replied to trackbound's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I wasn't sure about the wood bed sides either. Not an original idea, there was an F1 in a contest issue of SA that used the wood sides instead of the bed, but with the fenders still mounted. Always kind of liked the look. Only time will tell how it will actually look with the contrast of color. -
Started this project probably 3 years ago. I was planning on making it more of a "kustom" 50s show truck at the time. When I pulled it back out I was seeing more of a rat rod truck without all the rust and primer. Not much hasn't been modified on the body: chopped roof, pie cut hood, sectioned front fenders, filled nose with frenched headlights and grill opening, cab lowered, rear fenders made symmetrical and longer, frenched taillights, bed sides cut down (will be using the wooden sides), and rear cab indent filled smooth. The plan is to finish the truck as a curbside, layed out pretty low, stock kit white walls with steel wheels (maybe hub caps), satin metallic paint job, and the front bumper and grill will have a rust treatment to add just a touch of the rat rod feel. Sorry, my camera skills leave something to be desired.

I of course got into model car building as a kid in the 80s because my father spent most of his childhood building models. We still have a good handful of his built cars, including this 1961 Bonneville. I had a guy offer me a chunk of change for about 10 built cars, I knew it was pretty far off...but it got me to looking into some of them on ebay and the internet in general. Questions I would love to have an answer to: 1. Is this a promo or an annual...or are they the same thing? 2. There is no trademark or company name stamped on the chassis...who would have made this? 3. Would the "kit" have been marketed as a convertible (I have seen some hardtops on ebay, but nothing with the roof this one has)? 4. Would some of the custom parts on this car be from the kit or just misc. pieces from other kits...so would it have been something like a 3n1 kit? 5. Any idea on the rarity of this kit?
