Star Model Co......resin.....anyone??

Thanks Mark. I figured so. Mike -
Yes, I noticed that too. Also noticed that the grill has a bit too much forward slant. Also, the kit's body has a bit of a hard peak along the mid/beltline, whereas the real car had more of a gentle curve along the beltline. That's an easy fix with a bit of sandpaper, but correcting those grill and tail light panel angles takes some work. Mike

Ooooo, a Patent drawing, none the less! I was a patent draftsman here in Baltimore from '84 to '95, and spent 2 or 3 days a week at the old Patent Office in Crystal City, Alexandria, Va., where I'd search the old patents in the archives. What an education. Sorry about the off-topic. Mike

Looking good. Are you going to topcoat it with clear, leave it satin? Mike

Just right, and I love the rake. Classic. Mike

Cruz, that Bug is sick......just sick. And I'd forgotten how good looking those old Toyotas, Mazdas and Datsuns were. Hmmmmm, might have to find me one of those kits. Sure gets the creative juices flowing. Thanks for sharing, Mike

Now, hold on........take a look at the table. I know you guys probably didn't mean to, but you created an awesome 1:24/25 scale car show! Imagine pulling into the local shopping center, and seeing that sick display of classic muscle sitting there! NICE. Mike

Very cool build. I've got one of these under way as well. I molded the rear bumper on mine. Still haven't settled on a color yet. Thanks for posting this. I've been hoping to see some built up. Mike

NIIIIIIIICE! Mike

Now THIS is how I remember the cars looking when I was coming up in the 70's and 80's. Nice stance, clean build........a real classic. Sure takes me back. Mike
-
NICE! And the chrome and BMF look deeeeeeeep. Mike

An incredible build-up of one of my all-time fav Caddys. NICE job. Mike

REAL Nice! I have a newer release '68 El Camino that I'm really looking forward to building. I stripped the lousy factory chrome from the bumpers and grill, and sent everything off to Chrometech for rechroming. The parts turned out REALLY nice, and I can't wait to dig into this one. Mike

This Nova is looking great so far. Keep us posted on the progress. Mike

Sorry Cruz. The '55 Chevy is no longer in my possession. I presented it to my buddy Bert this past week. He'll be displaying the model with the 1:1 '55 in Ocean City, Maryland next weekend, Oct. 9, 10, 11, 12. If any of you are free, you might wanna head down to O.C. MD for a day or two. The Endless Summer Cruisin' is an awesome event, WELL worth the trip. Take a camera! I plan to ride the motorcycle down for a day....probably Saturday. Mike

Looks scary fast just sitting there! It's a very nice, and CLEAN build. Always loved those hood scoops, too. Mike

Thanks guys. I spent the most time replicating the engine and the surrounding area, since I knew that my friend Bert, knowing his car inside out, would pick up on the details. I had to reshape the valve covers to look like the ones on his crate Chevy small block. The radiator surround and front clip supports were replicated using Plastruct. Other minor details, like the Grant steering wheel, shifter, ladder bars, etc., were key. Also note, the Monogram '55 probably would have been my last choice as the base kit, but Bert already had an original kit from '75. In reviewing the kit, we both thought that it would make good Gasser material. I've been noodling with this project on and off for 2 years. Now that the new Revell '55 is available, it's a no-brainer......I'd definitely go with that. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next project......I want to delve a little deeper into finer detail. Underhood wiring and plumbing is still quite a challenge for me, but I'm learning one kit at a time. My current projects include a John Mazmanian Cuda, and the Ramcharger funnycars, so I'll be getting some good practice! I'll pot some pics in 'On the Bench'. Mike

Here ya go guys, my latest addition to the 'Under Glass' category. I built this Flip-nose '55 Chevy model for a friend who owns the real 1:1 full-scale version. The old 1/24 Monogram '55 was the basis for this build. I glued the hood shut, molded everything smooth, and then cut the front end off with a jeweler's saw. The firewall and flip-nose bracketry and framework are scratchbuilt, and the interior and engine bay are built to resemble the real car.......as close as I was able to get, anyway! I learned a lot about scratchbuilding and flip-nose mods on this model, and I'm looking forward to taking the next one to the next level...... Mike The actual paint from the real car was used for the model, but I used Testors clear instead of urethane. The model looks more orange in my photos....... Thanks for looking!

NICE....both, the real car AND the model. One of my all-time favorite rides. I agree with a couple of the other posts......Bare-Metal foil around the wheelwells and some white acrylic paint on the raised lettering on the tires, and you'd have a exact replica of your '74 RR. NICE!! Mike

Revell 69 Nova. Can This Be True?
Bluzboy66 replied to Len Woodruff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have been using Keith's decals for years. They are awesome. You won't be disappointed. Mike -
Cruz, it's great to see you building some classic Mopar muscle! The Citrus Yellow looks great. I've been wondering what to use that color on myself. I gotta say, it compliments the Cuda's lines perfectly. I might use it on an old MPC '76 Volare I've got prepped. Mike

Looking good so far. I'm dying to start one of those new '55 Chevys. Mike
