Very little progress, I've been super busy. Mocked up the body to see how it sits. Drivers side front end needs to come down just a little but not to bad. Comments always welcome.

Hey Rob, It is a very nice kit, not much flash, parts fit well etc.. The "special edition" tag is because of new tooling and the optional parts to build either the race version or the stock version. After not building for 25 years this kit has been a lot of fun to build. I might pick up another one to build the race version. So with that said, yes pick one up you will enjoy this kit.

A little bit of progress. Its now a roller. I am crossing my fingers that the temps will be warm enough this weekend in my shop to get the body at least primed. As always, thanks for looking and comments are welcome. Doug

Michaels 50% Coupon Or so I thought
DSHWoodworks replied to Mustangmania24's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I was at one of my local Michaels on Saturday and they had a few models on clearance, at least they had a couple shelf spaces marked clearance but all the clearance models were sold out, guess I got there to late. I also saw the sale they are having this week 30% off all models. Still not a bad deal. It is very strange with Michael's though, one of my local stores has models and supplies but that section looks like it was through an earthquake, the second store(the one I was at on Saturday) everything was neat, organized, well stocked etc... very strange to me that two stores would be so different. -
So why do you or we stash kits?
DSHWoodworks replied to greymack's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have only been back into it for a couple of weeks and so far I have three kits. One is almost done, I have just started the second while I wait for parts on the first to dry/cure and the third is on deck. I kind of look at kits like I look at my work load at my job. I like to have a back log of work so I know that once I finish one project there is another waiting to be worked on. I also feel like others that if I see a kit that I want to build and have the money to get it, I get it because you never know if you will see it again. -
Welcome John!!! I am new here myself. Working on my first model in over 25 years, 69' Nova. There are a lot of amazing builders here and everyone is very helpful. I can't wait to see your builds and look forward to learning with you.

A little bit of progress this week. As long as it warms up enough this weekend I might get the body primed.

Beautiful builds!!! My favorite is the 79' Camaro. My Uncle had an 80' Z28 I hope to find the 79' model so I can build it for him someday. Keep up the great work!!!

I welcome feedback as well. I just posted my first "on the workbench" WIP in over 20 years and I know I have a lot to learn. I just want to build clean, mostly box stock models and after I get a few of those under my belt I will try to push my "skills" a bit. Always learning. I always like to hear feedback from any project I am working on, I feel that someone else might see something I didn't see or just see something in a different way which helps you look at your work in a different light. Good constructive feedback is always a good thing.

No updates today. It took me 2.5 hours to get home from work which is only 12 miles away. Oh well what are you gonna do. Eric, don't get to excited, I might just make it closed since we never opened the sunroof when my Grandma had her Nova. I will think on it and if I can think of a way to design it so it actually works I will give it a go.

I think it was factory. Thanks for the photos. I hope to get some photos of my Grandma's from my Mom tomorrow.

Well here is my first WIP in over 25 years. Like the title says its the 69' Nova. I am building it box stock. I hope to build it something like the one my Grandma had when I was younger. I think her's was a 72' but the body style seems to be the same on the 69'. The one thing I want to try to do is a faux sunroof. It was a soft top sunroof. I am going to try to find some pics of it this weekend. And so it begins Engine work Small mock up This was my first time trying to use embossing powder, it didn't go as well as planned. I think my spray glue was to cold, it did not spray right, kind of bubbly so when I coated the floor it made humps. After it dried I peeled the lumps and coated it again. It didn't turn out like I wanted so I gave it a lite wash coat of flat black in a few places that didn't turn out well. That helped a lot. At least I am learning again. Next time I will make sure my glue is warm before I spray. Starting to add a few details Thats all for now. Next will be more details and mock ups. All comments, suggestions are welcome. Thanks for looking.

Love the orange and black. Interior color combo is great too!

Ran to my "local" Hobby Town just to pick up a jar of pain and came home with this. A few jars of paint, work stand, some body paint for the Nova, some "supports" for the faux sunroof that I hope to put on the Nova and the new 41' Willys Street Rod kit. It looks pretty basic but that is fine, I'm just getting back into the hobby.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!!! Finding this site is what put me past the tipping point back into modeling. Thanks again.

Hi everybody, I have been reading for a few weeks and just had to sign up. I have not built a model for at least 25 years, now 42 I have gotten the bug to build again. On my bench right now is a Revell 69 Nova that I am going to build like the one my Grandma had when I was young. It will be mostly box stock, nothing fancy. One frustrating thing I have found getting back into the hobby is lack of supplies from department stores like there was when I was building before. I found my kit and a few supplies at one of my local craft stores (Pat Catan's). One of my LHS just moved about an hour away and the other deals mostly in trains. Remember the days you could go into any department store and they had an entire isle of models and supplies? Me too, that I miss but I also like how the hobby has changed in good ways. What size does everyone post their photos? I will post some of my WIP after I resize some. I look foward to learning and sharing with all of you. Doug
