I have 2 of the 389 Project conversions but I had already been working on this one, so it's a Shapeways hood.

I finally finished recreating the BJ & the Bear XXL Kenworth I did 5 years ago. There are quite a few differences from the first one and it was quite a chore to pull off. There are Kootenay tool boxes, fenders and roof spoiler from MTB, and special thanks to Ryan Mlynek for his expertise in making all the custom polished aluminum goodies!

Thanks guys! It sounds like Tamiya is the way to go.

...best represents Candy Red (aka Candy Apple Red)?

Here's the double bunk Astro, just finished this morning. It was not an easy build. Making the cab was easy, but lowering the cab on the frame was a pain. I upgraded the wheels & tires and the fuel tanks. It's on Ebay already.

Thanks guys! The paint work is done and I'm hoping to have the model done in a week or so. -

Is there a person or service who can upsize a new decal sheet to a larger size/scale? There is gold involved so it would have to be done with an Alps or similar-type printer. Any help is appreciated.

Duplicolor paint
Mike77 replied to Steveng's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
As a lifelong rattle can painter, I use Duplicolor whenever possible. It goes on fine, not thick like Testors, etc. Like everything else it's not cheap anymore but it's still worth it to me. This Kenworth is all Duplicolor... -
Huge kudos to LL3 Model Worx, he sent me a can of discontinued Model Master paint that I wasn't able to locate anywhere else. Great guy to deal with!!!

Gorgeous rigs!!! -
Thanks guys! In nearly 50 years of building this was the first mixer I ever built. The day cab is actually pretty easy to do.

Getting the IH Transtar 4070a soon
Mike77 replied to JerseeJerry55's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
One of the most pleasant kits I've built in ages. Since it is new tooling there's very little flash on the sprues. I just finished this one, modified of course. -

I just finished this one. I didn't want a standard day cab or a regular cab and I found pics on the web of a couple of 74"-cab Transtars that I thought were cool. I shortened the cab, which was a little more involved than a typical job since on the full cab the window opening and tool box door are offset. I opened up the side and rear windows, and the chassis is also shortened. I highly-recommend this kit if you have "builder's block" as it's really nice to build.

It wasn't issued like this from FM, I modified a stock '67 Vette into a Ko-Motion.

Not to drag this thread out too long, but what about the wheels from the Moebius Dyno Don Comet Cyclone? In looking at the box art it looks like the offsets are different but when I look at videos it's really hard to tell. I can replace the pie crust slicks with regular ones so it all depend on the wheels. If anyone has info and/or pics I'd appreciate it!

Thanks all! The Camaro ones look a little more like Rockets than Cragars but since "beggars can't be choosers" they'll have to do.

Thanks guys! It looks like the Camaro ones will work.?

Is there a readily-available kit that has chrome Cragar S/S wheels in 60's drag style? I'm looking for slicks(preferably not pie crusts) & skinnies with the rear Cragars having a deeper offset than the fronts. I know this sounds picky, but it's for a particular project. I know there are a lot of kits that have same-offset rims, or pie crust slicks rather than smoother Racemasters, etc., so this may be a challenge. I'm trying to avoid piecing everything from different kits. Any help is greatly appreciated!
